(formerly Custom Troops)

I made this mod for myself (to play around in free mode mostly) but I decided to release it for the community to try. My focus was on changing the things I didn't like about vanilla troops, which means some changes may not be balanced properly, so beware of that.

Changes to Troops:

  • Unit descriptions rewritten from scratch (Eng only)
  • All units are now more specialized and able to fulfill a specific role
  • All casters received spells that the AI can handle correctly
  • Rune heroes have been reworked, they are now much stronger and have a specialized class each
  • Swarm and Siege units are available in OoD and BoW campaigns

Please note that the mod changes ONLY the troops that you recruit from monuments.

General Changes:

  • Attribute requirements for leveling up skills removed (Attribute Freedom)
  • No need to grind for levels, leveling is made a bit easier
  • Rework of Mage equipment, less shields available but robes have more AC

Compatibilty:
The mod was developed and tested for the latest "public version" beta version on steam, it works on 1.61 too, the mod is not compatible with any mod that changes the Gamedata.cff file.

Military Reforms by Rototom94 - List of Features

These are all of the changes that I made in the mod, in a complete list that does not take into account the different versions, consult this if it's the first time you're using the mod and want to know what the changes are in a quick way.

General:
- Decreased exp requirement to level up by 33% , to remove the need to grind with towers
- Attribute requirements for levelling up skills removed (Attribute Freedom)
- Added Building plans for sale in the campaigns, for resource buildings of all races (sawmil, smelting works etc.), they are sold by Colan Fell in Liannon and Snaedis in Tirganach (you will need to start a new campaign to see the changes).
- Changed the way Siege and Swarm Units are recruited
- Fixed errors in some building descriptions (Eng only)
- Unit descriptions have been rewritten from scratch (Eng only)
- "Lemurian Ring" now gives +5% run speed and is renamed "ring of swiftness" which is intended to help with backtracking and travelling
- Added stat bonus for melee units (+5 strength, +5 stamina)
- Added stat bonus for ranged units (+5 dexterity, +5 agility)
- Added stat bonus for caster units (+10 wisdom)
- All spears requirement changed to Heavy combat arts
- All spears have an attack range of 2
- Ring requisites reworked (OoD and BoW campaigns only)
- Rework of Magic equipment: Robes and Orbs have been boosted while magic shield selection has been reduced

Rune Warriors:
- All the rune warriors stats and skill boosted, they are now more powerful and much more specialized.

Humans:
- Recruit has a shield and increased armor
- Paladin casts Aura of Dexterity instead of Dexterity, stat bonus doubled, cost increased
- Scout is equipped with shortsword (cosmetic), attack speed increased by 5%
- Marksman is equipped with dagger (cosmetic)
- Cleric casts Aura of Healing instead of Healing, weapon has a small chance to inflict Hallow, cost increased
- Mentalist can now cast both Shock and Manatap, gets Shockwave after upgrade
- Enchanter changed to Wizard, offensive mage that can cast Elemental Essence
- Mentalist and Wizard cost changed to 80 Aria
- "Shockwave" upgrade cost reduced to 400 Aria
- Fixed Titan Name, both regular and upgraded version
- Bloodhound inflict Suffocation on hit, move speed increased by 10%
- Bloodhound is now recruited from Small HQ, cost increased
- Star mage is now recruited from Medium HQ

Elves:
- Warder is equipped with spear and shield after upgrade
- Ranger attack speed increased by 5%
- Healer casts Aura of Healing instead of Healing, cost increased
- Windarcher range reduced by 1, is equipped with dagger (cosmetic) after upgrade, attack speed increased by 5%
- Wintermage can cast Icewave after upgrade
- Wanderer range increased by 1, casts Trueshot (after upgrade), instead of Iceshield, attack speed increased by 5%, cost increased.
- Druid stat bonus doubled, cost increased
- "Elen's Gift" Upgrade increases magic powers of casters and gives new spell to Wintermage
- Fixed Titan Name, both regular and upgraded version
- Pixie inflict Poison on hit, move speed increased by 10%
- Pixie is now recruited from Small HQ, cost increased
- Stormbringer is now recruited from Medium HQ

Dwarves:
- Militia changed to Axe thrower, a basic ranged unit
- Watchman is now equipped with spear
- Battlepriest casts Aura of Healing instead of Benefactions, armor increased, weapon damage decreased (small chance of inflicting Hallow), cost increased
- Elite stat bonus doubled, cost changed to both Iron and Moonsilver, inflicts Decay after upgrade
- Elder casts Aura of Endurance
- Fixed Titan Name, both regular and upgraded version, casts Aura of Dexterity instead of Aura of Regeneration
- New Building: Hallit Crossbow Tower (replaces stone ram house)
- Added building plans for Hallit Crossbow tower in chests found OoD and BoW campaigns
- Stone Rams inflict Slowness on hit, move speed increased by 10%
- Stone Ram is now recruited from Small HQ, cost increased
- Siege Warrior is now recruited from Medium HQ

Orcs:
- Building cost reduced by 30% for most building (except Headquarters and a few others)
- Thug move speed inreased by 15%
- Spearman is equipped with shield after upgrade
- Fighter is equipped with axe and shield
- Drummer casts Aura of Inflexibility instead of War Cry
- Hornblower casts Aura of Slow Fighting instead of Patronize
- "Glory of the Horde" upgrade cost reduced slightly
- "Glory of the Horde" upgrade now gives more armor and Mana to Drummer and Hornblower
- Veteran stat bonus doubled, cost increased
- Smelting Works building plan price reduced
- Fixed Titan Name, both regular and upgraded version
- War Boar inflict Weaken on hit, move speed increased by 10%
- War Boar is now recruited from Small HQ, cost increased
- Inferno is now recruited from Medium HQ

Trolls:
- Champion stat bonus doubled, cost increased
- Fixed Titan Name, both regular and upgraded version, casts Aura of Inflexibility instead of Aura of Weakness
- Ironbeak inflict Manadrain on hit, move speed increased by 10%
- Ironbeak is now recruited from Small HQ, cost increased
- Walking Fortress is now recruited from Medium HQ

Dark Elves:
- Havoc weapon changed after upgrade, gets stat bonus for both melee and casters, cost increased
- Assassin has a new model and is an archer, its upgrade now increases armor and melee damage, cost reduced
- Darkblade Lifetap spell removed, armor slightly increased, small chance of inflicting Lifetap on hit, cost reduced to 80 iron
- Battlemaster armor increased, weapon damage decreased, attack speed increased by 10%
- Necromancer can also cast Manatap, gets more mana after upgrade
- Sorcerer cost reduced
- Stonemason and Smelting Works building plans price significantly reduced
- Fixed Titan Name, both regular and upgraded version, casts Aura of Weakness instead of Aura of Inflexibility
- Darkwing inflict Lifetap on hit, move speed increased by 10%
- Darkwing is now recruited from Small HQ, cost increased
- Harbinger of Chaos is now recruited from Medium HQ
