Installation instructions:
Extract ALL the content from the "Contra009FinalPatch3" archive to your Zero Hour directory AFTER you've installed 009 Final, Patch 1 and Patch 2. To play the mod, open "Contra_Launcher.exe".
You will find startup options such as music, language, unit voices, etc. Decide your preferences and click "Launch".
Contra will auto-detach itself from Zero Hour on exit, so that you can launch vanilla Zero Hour or any other mod.
Manual installation instructions if you are experiencing problems with launcher (otherwise you don't have to do this, read above).
If you're doing these steps you MUST NOT use the Contra Launcher. Many people don't read carefully and fail to install the mod.
1. Download and install Contra 009 Final, Patch 1 and Patch 2 manually by following their manual install instructions Moddb.com , Moddb.com , Moddb.com .
2. Put all files from the "Contra009FinalPatch3" archive into your Zero Hour folder (NOT the one in My Documents).
3. Rename !!!!Contra009Final_Patch3.ctr to !!!!Contra009Final_Patch3.big.
3. Rename !!!!Contra009Final_Patch3_GameData.ctr to !!!!Contra009Final_Patch3_GameData.big.
4. Rename !!!!Contra009Final_Patch3_EN_Legacy.ctr to !!!!Contra009Final_Patch3_EN_Legacy.big OR rename !!!!Contra009Final_Patch3_RU_Legacy.ctr to !!!!Contra009Final_Patch3_RU_Legacy.big if you want Russian language.
5. Rename !!!!Contra009Final_Patch3_NatVO.ctr to !!!!Contra009Final_Patch3_NatVO.big OR rename !!!!Contra009Final_Patch3_EngVO.ctr to !!!!Contra009Final_Patch3_EngVO.big if you want English unit voices.
6. Rename Scripts folder to Scripts1 (which is located inside Data folder).
7. Rename generals.exe to generals_zh.exe.
8. Rename generals.ctr to generals.exe.
9. Start the game from generals.exe (NOT Contra_Launcher.exe)!
Zero Hour version 1.04, Contra 009 Final + Patch 1 + Patch 2 are required!

i Tried downloading the base final and patch 1 and 2 before downloading patch 3. i run the game and many textures are purple/pink. any help?

I noticed that many hero units have increased damage; artillery units (except base defense and hero) how don't auto-acquire enemy. Is this for balance reasons?
That's true. Burtons use a damage type which is more effective vs. tanks and structures.
Artillery no longer auto acquires enemies, because that's the only fix preventing them getting stuck.

Прежде всего хочу выразить огромную благодарность за то, что вы на протяжении огромного времени поддерживаете такой качественный и интересный с разных сторон мод для одной из моих любимейших игр. Стандарты эффектов и баланса, которые для меня во многом являются эталонными, и не позволяют задерживаться на других модах из-за этого очень долго, очень радуют.
Хоть давать советы такому бездарю, как мне, является последним делом, но решение касательно оформления командных центров и зданий путём копирования одной модельки на все постройки является сомнительным. В случае с генералом авиации так вообще (эти огромные вентиляторы вызывают вопросы). В другом популярном моде реализованы более логичные решения, которые выделяют генералов по их признакам (диспетчерская вышка у авиатора, например, или полевой тент на выезде из кц у танкового..)

These objects are not final version, they are subject to change. More unique changes are planned for future.
I had control tower as option, but i rejected this idea because control tower is object that needs to be big, and such object doesnt fit small structures like power plants, barracks, or even supply drop zone. I had to settle with most appropriate version.

Saying that they ruin visual is exaggerating.
You may like them, or not, but they are made with lot of details, they have quality and they have no errors.
I dont think that better object will replace Airforce objects, i dont see control tower as possible replacement.

Perfect work with community doesnt mean that every suggestion, or idea should be implemented right away.
If mod is made like that, then you would have everything thrown in mod because one person will like something, another one will dislike same thing. This is why you have developers and testers.
I dont mind add-ons. People are free to do them, but they wont be official.
Don't know if that phrase "Perfect work with community" was supposed to be ironic but if so, then hear me out:
Devs have their own vision of this mod, they have testers playing it on a regular basis to ensure the quality. It's not their job to please every single fan, which is an impossible task by any means. Suggestions are welcome but remember that they won't necessarily be taken for granted if they don't match the devs' vision or if it's simply unrealistic to apply.

Because the AI is more sophisticated in Contra than in ZH.

I got this to work but I cant get special patch 2 to work with this. Any reason/ideas?
Most or all add-ons made for older versions will not work. Request their author to update them. Until then, you have to either stick with Patch 2 (if the add-on is more important to you) or play without the add-on.

Has any of you faced the tank gen. yet (on Hard?), is OMG, as soon as you get to lvl. 3 his arty strike wipes half of your base, than overlords and other high tier units clears up the rest! (I think that the tank gen. challenge needs some serious balancing!)
Contra was designed for balanced multiplayer games. Tryin to rebalance it all in favor of challenge mod will be a very complicated task.

Advanced Training Upgrade very Important for American Units Why Removed??
My guess is because of balance reasons, as it is 90% of the case. Units automatically gaining veterancy without firing a shot when entering the map seems hardly fair...
Some more bugs i have found:
1. Some Ai dont build strategy or propaganda center anymore in skirmish like nuke or toxin
2. Hold the line strategy makes airforce strategy centre look weird(the fans above it dissapear)
3. Many usa units still have advanced training upgrade as icon to be researched even tho they cant get(research) it.
2. Is Zero Hour bug, i was also very disappointed when i found out that switching strategy messes up animation. You can also see it if you remove Contra and play Zero Hour, once you switch strategy, notice that small fan on "chimney". His animation is 2 times slower.
