In year 2047, the alien crystal element - commonly known as "Tiberium" - began blanketing the Earth, dividing the globe into various zones based on the level of Tiberium infestation.

As war continued over the past century between the European Union (EU) and the Pan Asian Coalition (PAC) for the last habitable lands, Tiberium fields continued to grow, polluting wide areas around the globe with violent Ion storms, changing the course of Nature forever.

The year is now 2142, and the dawn of a new Ice Age has thrown the world into a panic - a global threat that nobody has ever expected. As Earth's resources are depleted by both the ice and the growing Tiberium crystals, the two coalitions soon found themselves trapped in a desperate war for the only cause that matters - survival.

In Command and Conquer 2142, players can choose to fight for one of two military superpowers - the European Union or the new Pan Asian Coalition -in an epic battle for the last habitable lands. A range of devastating, hi-tech arsenal will be available, including assault rifles, cloaking devices and sentry guns.

Players will also take control of the most lethal vehicles known to man, using massive Battle Walkers to wage wage fierce combat on the ground, while commanding futuristic aircrafts to rule the skies. Command and Conquer 2142 also provides additional vehicles for players to control, including the massive flying "Titan" warship, the hovering light IFV Hachimoto available to the PAC, and the massive heavy IFV Goliath available to the EU. Structures will also be available as part of the modification, including Titan docks from" Port Bavaria" and wall systems as seen in the Battlefield 2142 map "Verdun".

Hello to our moddb friends and visitors :D

First of all, I hope 2012 has been treating all of you well so far! ^^

On behalf of the entire CNC2142 team, we want to thank you again for all the support! You guys really make this a fantastic community, and your support is vital to our success! :) We have a bunch of exciting updates to share, so let's get started! :D

Firstly, we are very happy to announce that Cerbere Landing, our first official map, is now 100% complete! Based on its original design in BF2142 - we made sure that almost everything, from the placement of every crate, tree, bush and street lamp, to the gradient of cliffs, the orientation of buildings, even the direction of sunlight - have been recreated with pin-point accuracy for CNC2142's SAGE engine. The map runs smoothly, and unlike BF2142's static environments, all of these objects in SAGE are destroyable - but let's leave that topic till next time ;p We hope all of you will like it so far! ^^

Unlike many mods out there, we take community feedbacks seriously :) For those of you who are familiar with CNC2142, you would know many of our design choices (such as the team color layouts) have been made because of you guys ^^ We started focusing on our second map, Sidi Power Plant, a few days ago. It is the winner of our earlier Favourite Map vote, but sadly, CNC's SAGE engine will not be able to handle the entire map in full size. We will try our best to fit everything into the map as they were in BF2142, and if you have any suggestions, do make sure to leave us comments below or on our moddb front page!~

Finally, we are also extremely happy to tell you that after months of hard work behind the scenes, we have successfully optimized CNC2142's performance across the board! Compared to its predecessor, our latest CNC2142 testing-beta version loads maps 80% faster. Performance-hogging draw calls have been reduced to approximately 75%, and CNC2142 textures are now almost twice as efficient overall :D As a result of these optimizations, CNC2142 is now much more stable, and we are still yet to see any crashes even with everything now set at maximum. :D

Sad really, I like the first impressions of it.

Though, how many MOD's are just being killed off these days?
I must admit, even some of mine got back-burner'ed for ages.
Looking back, just realised it's been several years since I first announced one of my biggest projects (coming up to 10 years). Admittedly, I'm not as skilled as I would have liked to have been for such a project.

Issues with making MOD's:
Confidence in ones self - Most people start a project, get smushed by the comments and don't bother. Others get good comments to begin with and then smush themselves thinking that everyone has got a blown up view that is out of proportion with what they are actually making.
Tip - Don't smush yourself just because some people think your work is better than you think it is, put your work out there anyway. What's the worst that can happen, if one person is going to enjoy it, then it's worth it regardless.

Skills - A lot of people (myself included) dive into a Project and then get swamped when they suddenly realise they don't actually know what they're doing.
Tip - Ask around, if you're struggling, ask people for assistance. Don't be afraid to ask for help just because you bit off more than you can chew. I did it myself, and when I finally ask around for assistance, I got some. While it wasn't loads, it was enough to get off the ground.

Asking for help - I said it once, and I'll say it again, DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR HELP! I can't express it enough, but nobody's perfect, and nobody can do it all. Nobody has all of the answers, that's why there are MOD Groups out there.
Tip - If you need help, ask around. Message people, do Google Searches, look at what works, and look at what doesn't. With the world of Command & Conquer, there is one Rock Bottom worst, and that was from the main Developers [cough] CNC4TT. The artwork of that was just bad, it's like playing Bubble Tanks (LITERALLY). In the case of story, anything goes, it doesn't have to be on the CNC Timelines (any one of them).

Thinking that your work is a Train Wreck - It might be, but who gives a S###. Somebody, somewhere is going to like something. My own MOD's have been considered as Train Wrecks by many, including myself from time to time. HOWEVER, what can you do with a Train Wreck, make a better Train.
Tip - Post what you've got anyway, if it is a Train Wreck, then either build a better Train yourself, or get some people to help you out. One of my projects was a Train Wreck, and I thought to myself, let's pick up the pieces and recycle what works and add to it. That's my main Flagship MOD this happened to, 23 F###ING TIMES. I'M STILL HERE. So don't give up.

If you decide that you've bitten off more than you can chew, and you want someone else to take the reigns, then post what you've got. Even if it's just a bunch of Text files of some ideas you had one night while you had a few pints. Some of the craziest and yet most successful ideas for things have come from some random notes on some scraps of paper. Notes on Scrap Paper got us to the moon.
