Intro
Hey there! Welcome to this week's roundup of the YouTube, where we showcased a best-of-the-best gathering mod for isometric RTS, and a faction expansion mod - as well as, of course, kickoffs for MOTY and IOTY! Note that this week's article is out a day late to make room for the Quarter 4 breakdown from yesterday - we're still only covering the vids from last week, though.
Crazy crossovers are a staple of modding - total conversions are where some of the craziest can be found - but few reach the scale of Cameo, which commits to adding factions and units from every isometric (and sometimes early 3D) RTS of note into one insane sandbox where Starcraft Zerg, C&C Soviets, and literally SimCity battle it out to decide the ultimate classic RTS victor.
It's that time of the year - Mod of the Year and Indie of the Year have both kicked off! Anyone who's been around for even just one of these events knows it's the culmination of the year for many teams and individuals hoping to take a shot at the spotlight position. We've made a few changes this year to video and article composition to inject a bit of fresh air into the format and we're excited to see who'll be crowned the winners!
Dawn of War is a platform for Warhammer 40k modders like few others, introducing content from general rebalances to total overhauls, new campaigns, and fresh factions for tabletop fans to enjoy. Of particular note are the various Chaos subfactions added to the game, full of the dark creativity of Warhammer, and Horrible Chaos Beastmen is one of the more unique examples to hit the 40k playing field.
That's all for this round-up. What do you think about the mods listed? Feel free to discuss below and check out the YouTube for more videos past, present, and future!
Cameo would have made people in the 90's lose their minds.
