Grass shadows have been implemented in the engine and toggleable in advanced game options.
Can't wait to destroy my FPS count.
Is there any smart optimisation in the code here? I mean, if one is using a detail/grass radius of 180-200+ meters, the drain on the GPU will be massive.
PS: Some of the metal towers have bad mipmaps or something (not the power line towers), they look blurry from a distance. (See outside Yantar station). This is a vanilla game issue. A small detail, but if you're already fixing flaws and omissions from the original game?
It's really not that bad and I didn't waste any time on this as this code I borrowed from Russians.
Just **** my FPS up fam.
My friend has a SLI GTX 1080 rig and I have a single. If you want to run at 2160P the amount of grass, its height, and the use of sun shadows will murder your frame rates. With AN4 at 100% height and grass draw at 200m, slider all the way down I can't maintain 60FPS with sun shadows on. Using lower alife settings to reduce the amount of AI some will help a little, but the millions of shadows are a heck of a workload. Using 1080P is much more manageable, but after using 2160P going back to 1080P is hard to swallow LOL.
They do look great though. It is a tough set of choices ;)
wow stunning
my fps is kinda low already, this will just ruin it even more, but ... its stalker. Must do it!
So that's why I couldn't get them to work. :P
it wont ruin FPS if you keep the density and radial distance below 150m
my rig crashes when i set my distance to 175m anyway so any real fps loss can be associated with your rig not being savvy on increased detail, i remember when this graphical option was available in SHoC, i used it constantly back then and never had a single dropped frame (albeit a strong rig back then for SHoC)
please please please add this in the next patch, it will look fantastic alongside some of the grass replacement mods, great work as always alun.
Adds another level of awesome imo. Great job!
