Basileía ton Romaíon { Elysium Update }

Standalone Byzantium mod orginally based on the Divergences of Darkness Mod.

Mod brings the Basileía ton Romaíon ( ERE, Eastern Roman Empire, Byzantium or Byzantine Empire) into the world of Victoria.

What if the Basileía ton Romaíon (Roman Empire in Medieval Greek) never ended in the east? always retaining Anatolia and Greece and slowly regaining limited control over the Balkans, Levant, Egypt and north eastern Africa?

What if the Romaíoi (Greek speaking eastern Romans) continued to influence the course of events throughout Europa, Asia, Africa and the New World?

Romaíoi settlers founded Elysium in the new world though as a consequence of being separated and often blockaded by the various Latin powers in control of the straits of Heracles Elysium has really gone it's own way. Finding similarities between the local deities and Hellenic Deities of the past the Elysians have mostly embraced the old Hellenic ways and integrated with the local natives really creating a very unique culture.

Basileía ton Romaíon starts with Greece and Anatolia. Georgia, Armenia, Romania, Taurcia and Africa are (Disloyal) Exarchate vassal governments.

Basileía ton Romaíon start off in the middle of a civil war against the breakaway nations of Serbia, Bulgaria, Dyrrhachium, Aegyptus and Damascus. During the Chaos of the Civil War Venice has taken complete control of Corfu, Crete and Cyprus and may make further claims against your remaining islands.

Can you end the civil war and restore the empire to greatness.

New cultures within the Basileía ton Romaíon

Varangians are the foreign born soldiers whom serve as the Emperors body guard and most elite military unit. Mostly Norse with some Rus and Saxons.

Anatolikós are the rural population of Anatolia. they tend to be very agrarian and reactionary and strive for more regional autonomy along with more power for the local land owning elites.

Afrikanós are a mix of Romaíoi descendants whom settled North Africa after it's second reconquest and integrated Berber peoples. The Afrikanós rule the Exarchate of Africa.

Pontikoí are the rugged local inhabitants of the Pontic Mountains in Northern Anatolia. They primarily speak Greek but do not fully embrace the Romaíoi heritage and culture.

Illyrians speak a Latin language heavily influenced by Greek and Slavic. Illyrians are descended from the native Balkan tribes and Roman Settlers pushed towards the coastal regions around the Adriatic they are mostly under the influence of Venice.

Latínoi are the Latin speaking residents mostly from the Italian merchant republics primarily living in major port cities.

awesome mod however i do have to ask, how do you get rid of the feudal system? i can see the decision however i need to be an uncivilized country in order to get that decision and even if i am the westernization menu is totally broken with all the options missing. Additionally i would like to recommend that you consider adding some flavor decisions for other countries, maybe even merge with the tgc mod if possible :D other than that the mod is great and full of potential!

So after further playing around with this mod i think i have a better idea on how it may be improved. For starters i'd like to just say that the economy part is superb and i feel like the current trade goods system and pop management should've been in vanilla and i love that you've removed or at least toned down the american migration to the point where it's actually realistic. However a big notable problem is migration, particularly my pops absolutely refuse to go to migrate to newly conquered land, no matter if it's a colony or homeland. Second is the laws system i think it's great but it definitely can be better, i suggest adopting the tgc or cwe law system. Thirdly is the particular lack new casus belli's, i highly suggest integrating the tgc ones as they do quite good justice. If you want, i'd love to help out with the development of the mod as i myself have some vicky 2 and paradox modding in general experience. :D

Edit: Oh yeah and ideologies could use some work too, as well as flavor which i can help with ^^
