Spotlight is a brand spanking new segment here on ModDB where we take a step back and show you a few short clips recorded from the various mods actual gameplay unedited and uncut so you can see how the game looks, feels and sounds. This is a fantastic opportunity for both the developers (for extra advertisement) and the community (for those who missed the releases). Plus who wants to read text when we can see flashy colors...!

So guys now that another month is done and dusted we can only have very high hopes for the next month of amazing releases! Till next time mod away my good friends and watch this group for updates.
Great spotlight. Especially loved the Delta Sector footage.
I really quite like this idea. Though you do sound rather bored when you say the game names, though there isn't much ypu can do when you are really just saying what game it is.
ahah yeah i was going to re-record my voice again but I had to fill in for a mate a work.
Nice idea, there are so many games to track that there was needed something like this. And thank you very much for the spotlight.
Heh, had we known of this I would have delayed our release a couple of days :)
Release a patch so we have an excuse to include it in next months edition ;)
Alpha 2! Zombies! more maps! more cars! more carnage! woot! :)
Can the NPCs in Get a Life LEAN...?!
this little segment is an awesome idea :D
Man, Delta Sector looks so sweet.
How awesome is this idea!? A video is so easy to watch and digest - find out all the mods released over the past month and how they look.
I'm a huge fan.
Way better than the old MOTM feature, the video is killer, fits moddb perfectly 10/10
Excellent. Keep doing this every month please.
cute accent, not good for presentation though, the leveling is needed and it is not clear and loud enough.
RAW UNTOUCHED VOICES DON'T WORK WELL FOR PRESENTATION
note this for next month thanks unless you can improve behind the scenes on this one with the master files still.
thanks for the heads up, i never knew my voice was cute... anyways next month more time will be put into the voice, the recordings will all be done in the one sitting.
You have a good voice Henley :)
love this idea! Although, I think this should be extended to including, say the top 10 upcoming mods by editors' choice. That way not only the released mods get highlighted, but also those that the modDB community (I would say the modDB staff is there to represent us) feels are worthy to keep an eye on.
We cant play upcomming mods.
ahaha thats true you might see other features pop up for that ;)
I know I know.. but I meant only those mods that have already progressed to such a stage where they can provide in-game footage. See it as a form of ModDB TV *Preview Edition*..of course this would only work if the related mod teams would allow you to play-test their in-game content and then preview it.
But regardless of what you do. I'm loving ModDB TV..its a brilliant addition to the already great modDB. Am looking forward to the next installment! :)
Awesome video Henley! Can't wait for the next one!
Oh yeahh!!! VERY GOOD ;)
I reckon you shouldn't do any commentary, and just let the mods speak for themselves ;)
In muchful approval.
Great! I really like this idea! Keep it up! ;)
hope to see more vids like this in the future!
well im glad you all liked it, the segument is only going to get better from here on in. So make sure you take your mod posts stand out!
this rocks hope you keep doing it ;)
Thats a really nice idea. I'm really looking forward to the mothnly updates. :)
I have to say, I never thought I'd see 100% totally positive comments on ModDB. Glad the video is a hit, as I said above i'm a huge fan, finally a way to quickly see all mods released so you can pick and choose what you want.
Well if you want negative comments I am willing to give the free of charge. Can't have too much of a positive attiude people might get freaked out by the increase in smiles.
Just chiming in for the whole, beaten to death voice bit as the only issue. Beyond that though, nice way to get a nice visual summary of the month's releases/patches.
Great Idea!
Really cool way to help promote Mod DB and the games.
Keep up the great work guys.
Love all the new content.
Very nice.
I'm happy with the name too. ModDB TV sounds awesome :D
great idea moddb dudes !
I'm wondering though if its possible to perhaps turn this more into a TV show sort of thing. A bit like Good Game where you do a monthly countdown of all the games released and say things like "this game is a FPS game trying to reinvent X" or "Its a story driven game set in the future", a bit like what most game shows do. At the moment it just seems like GAME, RELEASE DATE - FOOTAGE - NEXT! - thats good but It'd sound more natural with a whole GAME, DESCRIPTION, NOTABLE FEATURES, RELEASE DATE, FOOTAGE - NEXT!.
During the presentation you mentioned "UPDATE" so replace features with just a quick "major/minor patch/update".
Ultimately this could make the News feed redundant as this system absolutely rocks and it gives a lot of mods the attention they deserve. Sure we still need the news feed though (because it keeps our watching users informed, which is just as important) but this provides us with some good PR.
What would be cool is to have some Video Interviews with ModDB developers at some of the major conventions, of course that would require US counterparts in the event Intense can make it like he did this year at GDC, but I'd love to have a meet and greet over at E-Games in Australia since it was hell boring last year as not too many people wanted to talk. (Maybe I should be going to GDC too :P)
Sorry for the long post. This really does seem like a brilliant idea.
Good reply, the main aim was to give users an idea of how the game plays. Allowing people to see un-edited footage was something that I always wanted to show. It might be that the winner of the staff selection gets more face time with a short review. The original plan was to give a 1 minute review on each game and then a score. The problem being is that we are then judging the games against each other, but each game is completely different and each will be in a completely different phase of development (ie beta 1 vs a complete mod). So leaving the games to speak for themselves I feel is a lot more informative.
Keep your eyes peeled there might be something similar coming up sooner rather then later.
I found my self!!! in the zombie panic source one!
nice idea. i don't think i missed any of those though. though i haven't yet tried many of those.
Fantastic Man... Keep up the good work!
Oh and I love how you never gave the games ratings. It gives the users a chance to try the modd without feeling like a outcast if the mod deems unpopular at that present time (ie v0.005)
that was the whole idea :D
Thanks for featuring ninja monkey ;)
Good work but you should a lil about the mods like the RO-mod.
umm im not sure i understand what your talking about...
Thanks from the Crystalline team for featuring us! Excellent work with this video!
Awesome! I expect more of these broadcasts to come :)
they will come :D
