Description

I probably have mentioned this before... but I've found a solution to the artillery units being over-powered in Uncommon Valor. after trying four or five different techniques I settled on artillery units inflicting a secondary self-destruct attack. this simulates the fact that artillery couldn't just keep shooting over and over again forever as they did in the original game. the idea here is that the unit will destroy itself after a minute or two of sustained fire. since artillery units make up part of a regiment these units will automatically replace themselves and require almost no additional micro-management on the part of the player. players simply have to recognize that they can't just bombard forever. I've been testing it out for several months and quite frankly love how it works out in game play.

I've updated the Japanese artillery units. obviously these aren't going to be completely historically accurate... and the unit skins, although not historical, do match the building skins.

giving Japan a more diverse, historically based artillery park helps offset their dreadful deficiency in tanks.

oh, and I've changed their artillery tanks into direct fire assault guns. the reason for this change is that their relatively low levels of elevation meant that they were probably unable to capitalize on the maximum historical range of their base-line artillery pieces.
