The pivotal moment of the raid on Caleb IV.

In 2242 two newly promoted Klingon captains, Kang and Kor, were paired together for the first time. Falling under the authority of fleet commander Karga, the two young and comparatively inexperienced captains were eager for glory, and were assigned to destabilise Federation forces in the Sierra sector by attacking any targets of opportunity they saw fit. It was, of course, a test - Karga wanted to see how his two newest captains would fare if left to act independently, and both were determined to rise to the challenge.

Their first target was Caleb IV, home to a Federation mining outpost, and the duo showed immediate promise. Their attack was well planned and flawlessly executed. Both D-5 cruisers approached the outpost slowly, under the cover of the many mineral-rich asteroids that surrounded the planet. Kor's vessel, the IKS Klothos, attacked first, sweeping aside the orbital defences and causing moderate damage to the outpost on the planet's surface before moving off. After a time the outpost lowered its shields, providing the opening Kang and his vessel, the IKS Che'leth had been waiting for. Catching the outpost with its shields down and with damage control efforts underway, in mere seconds Kang was able to cause severe damage before rejoining Kor at the system's edge. In only two passes Kang and Kor had managed to put a Federation mining facility out of commission for months.
