Is the Europa the Korelev in the background?

I’m wondering this as well. What class would the Europa be in the Loef-timeline?

Well, they say in STD that the Nimitz class is a command ship, so the mod equivalent would be the Korelev. Now, that by itself doesn't prevent the Nimitz showing up in a future update as a Korelev variant, like with the Nebula/Phoenix, but, at the same time, they could also tweak the spaceframe research tree to give the Korelev a "Nimitz" refit, like they did in STA:3 with the Excelsior/Lakota.

I actually intended the Europa to be the Asia-class in the foreground, both because the USS Europa features in a past screenshot, and Asia-class starships tend to be named after continents.

I think from now on we should just abbreviate it the "Loef-line"...

I really love this. So much more in line with the rest of Trek history. You’ve yet again outdone yourself!

Cool, a reimagination of the Battle at the binary Stars. Fantastic! Wished they used such designs for Discovery instead of the known ones, although not all of them are totally bad.

Description

Starfleet is forced into a full retreat at the conclusion of the Battle of the Binary Stars.

As the Imperial Fleet crossed the border en route to Arcanis, the Klingons encountered little resistance and easily swept aside everything in their path foolish enough not to run. Arcanis fell after hours of bombardment - the first in a series of disasters to befall the Federation in the Four Years War.

A state of war now existed between the Federation and the Klingon Empire, and the invasion demanded a strong response. Starfleet immediately marshalled a force of starships to intercept and stop the Klingons before they could continue their advance into Federation space. If a show of strength could convince the Klingons to abandon their military plans and resume diplomacy, perhaps a major war could be averted before it had a chance to escalate.

A fleet of twelve starships, led by the USS Europa, met the Empire's vanguard forces in an unnamed binary star system six lightyears from the border. As the Klingons approached, both fleets took up combat formations as they sized up their opponents.

Commanding officer Commodore Brett Anderson hailed the Imperial flagship, demanding that the Klingon fleet withdraw from Federation space and send a representative to negotiate, insisting that the Federation only desired peaceful relations with the Empire. The Klingon commander responded that the time for negotiation was over, and that the Empire would no longer tolerate the Federation seizure of territory on the Empire's doorstep, or the attempted ideological corruption of Klingon culture. The commander's response ended with him giving the order to fire.
