Enchantment?
We generally suggest people join the Discord via Discord.com if you'd like to see our progress, there's the place to be :) Moddb doesn't get updated very often since we prefer to focus on the work and post quickly on the Discord with previews/dev blogs as opposed to writing whole articles - it's simply more productive that way :D
The Dalish begin with various regions scattered all through Thedas
This year sometime, maybe, if you're lucky; we're done when its done - there's no concrete release date on a project like this with a team as small as ours. Private Beta testing should begin soon-ish, if that gives one any inkling of progress.
Things only truly picked up in 2019 as in 2018 (the first articles started 2019 :P) I was working on another project entirely, so I don't particularly count 2018 considering it was only 1 person doing some 2D concept art that has since been redone entirely - hence 2019 is just a more accurate representation. And even still, we're a team of 2-4 people at the best of times so these things take time if you want them done well.
We're all about quality foremost, and we're all perfectionists. Edit: We've well over thousands of hours each into development for Myself and Octavius by now lol
It's in the summery, but here: Discord.com
If you're lucky :P but really, we should start private Beta soon to tackle testing and final tweaks. We've all (the 2/3 of us working on this) been busy with life. No plans for any public Beta/Alpha, those things are usually early access trash, so isn't our style.
Every time someone asks for the release I delay my work by a month out of spite :D so maybe before Winds of Winter releases, if you're lucky ;)
We're always talking on the discord? As usual, we're done when we're done; there's only 2/3 of us working on the mod. I'm finalizing the campaign map slowly whenever I have the time and willpower to do so and that's 95% done now. There's sound, art, coding, animations, etc left to do too, that'll ultimately take as long as it takes :P
The Felicisma Armada operates out of Llomerryn, they should be a Pirate/Naval faction (don't quote me on it :P) that's as close to Vikings as you'll get in Thedas in the sense that they're raiders - unless DA4 adds something more akin to Vikings? We'll see.
Area of Recruitment, so it's a unit limited to X or Y region's recruitment pool. Redcliffe Knights (randomly for example) being recruited only uniquely at Redcliffe :P
The only official estimates we've given were between late 2020 at earliest and early 2021 at the latest - and as Augustus states, we're still hoping for before April, so it's still our estimate. We're a small team so it's ultimately done when it's done :)
It's no bother, we show more as development progresses - as we've always done. Discord (link in mod summery) is the best place to see previews before they're shown here on Moddb.
For context I recorded 20hrs+ of footage for Tevinter (not counting many extra hours I didn't record) and somehow managed that into these 7mins here; dunno how - but I hope it proves interesting to those wondering how Mapping works.
Our progress continues steadily :) so until next time...

Yep, quite alive; should have a new article very soon :) but the best way to answer your question would be to join our Discord (linked in the Moddb & Articles) to see work early.
Q4 of 2020 (so late 2020) is a fair estimate we've given, but is by no means set in stone; as development is unpredictable and we aim to release a complete product - but there may be a private testing Beta. People should join the Discord to have any chance of partaking in that :) otherwise, it'll be done when it's done. Hopefully late this year.
Grey Wardens will be their own separate faction.
As with any area of modding Med2 it's all trial and error :) with lots of error where mapping is concerned, but you'll pick up the ins and outs over time. The thing that usually prevents people learning is encountering Crashes/Errors they cannot seem to fix. With that in mind, the best I can do is say if you encounter any map issue(s) you cant figure out, do feel free to DM me - chances are I probably know a solution
Regardless, best of luck with the project :)
Mapping isn't something I can honestly get too in depth with via the comments section, but I'll give my two cents :) just the plainest things that come to mind...
1. Improved textures go a LONG way on any map, for a start, you can either do this yourself via a tool like Photoshop or find premade seamless textures online.
2. Smooth out the coastline and rivers. I'm assuming you took a base map to get the overall world shape? Med2 is terrible at translating that in a way that looks realistic; but some tweaks can smooth the more jagged edges out - and look into smoothing the coasts properly as finishing touch later on. You can find guides for this.
3. Consider making new Tree Models. I've found they do wonders for the map!
4. Rework non-sailable rivers, or consider using Landbridges instead as that way you avoid the weird cutting of terrain notably seen in the Oxenfurt article picture :P
5. Climates. This goes hand in hand with new textures; make subtle differences in an areas climate/textures/trees/etc - it helps make areas seem unique!
6. Photoshop, if you're not already using it- while tools like Geomod have their place (assuming your mappers using it) it's not without its limits; especially for Heights.
There's more than I can say here. I'm sure your mapper will pick things up as they go, if they keep at it. It's still early days, after all. I didn't learn everything in a day lol.
So, first of all; I'll say I love the idea and hope to see this succeed! I will say, however, that the map looks... vanilla... to put it friendly. No offense meant at all to whoever made it :) isn't my intent to come across as rude but I do hope the quality improves, because I'd love to see a release someday! It should be noted I'm a perfectionist for mapping, I say this with love lol.
“We are Wardens! One and all! Fight's for justice, shield's for vengeance! Crush our enemies! One and all!” — a Grey Warden song | Welcome to the Anderfels!
Now, back to work for me; hoping to show more soon...
Thanks, glad you like it- some of my best work so far :)
as said, set dates are impossible to gauge, but My map is coming along steadily and the rest of the mod should follow. Somewhat early/mid next year sometime is a decent guess; if everything goes smoothly. Modding is often unpredictable.
Is units in Images :) otherwise you'll find unit previews over at the discord (linked in the article) and I believe we're discussing more frequent Articles; to show off faction(s).
Map wise it's slightly larger than Divide and Conquer using all 199 regions available to us. Otherwise it's a complete overhaul; but I wont comment on things aside from the map, as that's My area. It's a complete overhaul tho so can expect all that implies.
2-3 turns sounds about right. The map is covering all of Thedas and about the same size as Divide and Conquer TA's map, to use an example. I need a higher region limit xD
The watermark/logo? I made that for us after we learnt some Russians are out there posting pics of the teams work as if they're making the mod themselves.
Map Textures are custom ones I've made - Vanilla is dreadful by comparison

I learnt to mod Medieval 2: Total War many years ago, mastering the art of coding (we call it that to make it sound cooler than it is) and later on Mapping; for various Game of Thrones themed projects and Dragon Age: Total War, earning me some fairly vast experience. I'm also a 2D artist plus run a Youtube channel with 15k+ Subs and over 6 million views under the channel name SoulGamesInc. I quit Total War Center because it's a hive of scum and villainy.
