Using the old "DoomReborn.exe & Gamex86.dll" from the non saves patch so I can adjust the music volume, The best way to fix it: Setup Creative Alchemy, set the variables to number of speakers to 5, set s_useeaxreverb = 1, set the doomreborn.cfg file to read only. Enjoy EAX 4.0!

You can google it, they placed a joke about a cosmetic product and you should be able to find out more. They removed it, then added it back, stating that it was their vision and if people didn't like it don't play. Where has people's logic gone, you are responsible for you, don't blame others if you can't make a decision to NOT do something.

Look into what the developers of Ion Fury recently did, they left it in, no one is forcing you to play the game, don't play the game and play something else if you are offended. Stay true to your vision, your backers have your back.

First let me say again the game is great! A few small problems:

1. On a Soundblaster Z or Soundblaster AE 5 Plus the Armour pickup (skulls) sound is too loud at the beginning of when it plays, it's very high pitched and a much louder "snap" type of noise is played, then the rest of the sound is not as loud, is there a way to create a new sound or mod it so the sound isn't so much louder than everything else in the game?

The too loud sounds seem to be louder on the Soundblaster AE 5 Plus than the Z, and I have tried to adjust the sound level in game and at the sound card level and the Armour pickup sound is noticeably louder than everything else.

2. The Teleport sound after you die and restart the level is too loud on e1m5 Phobos Lab on both sound cards.

I agree with your comments. I play 1.4007 because saves work anywhere but not quicksaves, and if I want to use cheats occasionally, it's a long time thing in PC gaming it's no big deal, unless people want to make it one. If you aren't too far along you could install that version and play it. Also Stalker 2 isn't that far off, so you could see how that is, I would imagine it will be difficult, except probably playable and not like what has been done to Stalaker LA DC.

Set

seta image_anisotropy "1"

can be 1,2,4,8,16 and 0 defaults to 1.

in the configuration files and now it runs solid 60 fps on the 6700 XT most of the time. It helped on the RX 580, except it's still slow, turning Specular Highlights off makes it much faster.

Hello,
The mod is great, I have been testing on a new video card the RX 6700 XT. The Specular Highlights cause the 6700 XT to run at around 30 fps when lots of things are going on in E1M4 and if you disable them it runs at constant 60 fps. Is there any way to increase the framerate? I tried changing the variable relating to specular and don't see any improvement. I can disable them except it looks worse. The card is quite powerful (at 1080P average 80 fps and usually well above 100 in Godfall) and I do understand that it can be a problem with AMD and their OpenGL drivers, and I can put in a bug report. Thank you!

Great game! In my testing, with very high settings, on Win 10 and AMD RX 4X0 and 5X0 the Vulcan renderer is a lot faster than OpenGL and has no problems. On the RX 6700 XT OpenGL is fast and I didn't need to change to Vulcan.

For a quick installation, After copying all the files to the new PC, copy fsgame.ltx and user.ltx from \appdata to a backup, and then delete everything in the files but leave the empty files so it can recreate them, then run the configurator. Run OpenAL install or any other codecs that STALKER LA may need. Set everything up, for most new PCs you can crank everything high except set the shadows to 2K default.

How to get surround sound on Creative Sound cards (AE 5 Plus, etc.). This works for the 1.4007 version and the 7791 version:

Download and open openal-soft-1.21.1-bin.zip. Copy soft_oal.dll from the bin\Win32 directory and rename it to OpenAL32.dll in the Stalker LADC\bin folder, use the 32 bit soft_aol.dll since Stalker is 32 bit.

Don't check Output Sound via DirectSound, enable EAX and also when you start the game make sure under audio is set to hardware and eax and select the sound device first OpenAL Soft in the audio menu, then you have to restart for it to save.

I hope my answers help a fellow STALKER, and to clarify, the only stutter I see is the occasional loading, and that occurs on either AMD or NV. I have been in the zone so long I don't really notice it anymore ;-)

Maybe someone can answer some of your other questions, for me
3. I don't notice stutter on my RX 580 8 GB, and the setting from what I remember it's critical to make sure to setup the graphics in the launcher and not mess with the setting in the game itself.
4. AMD HDAO is right, and I think there is a setting that works on both AMD and NV too.

Yes it's always a good idea to keep what you might need later, you never know when all the sudden it's not there, it happens a lot on the net!

Let's see if they will host them here on Moddb. I have it all it's about 5 gb and I even have a second backup copy.
About combining, not tried it, it might be possible, I would only support some of the new developer's changes, for example removing player shadows is really bad, so others I might be OK with. At the moment 7791 is fine for me.

Follow the instructions for installation in the description, and then I installed this:
old install instructions:
Then:
__upd_to_ladc_extended-001.zip
LADC Extended Engine UPD-20200501.zip (Ususally called bin update for ex. 7791)
LADC Extended Engine UPD-20200506.rar (Ususally called bin update for ex. 7791)
LADC Extended_eng_V.3.6.7z follow install directory instructions
---
I do not think they are available for download anymore, they are from May 2020.

The best solution would be that the current developer stop making changes and just bug fix and keep the game intact. I don't see that happening as it's his project and he doesn't seem to want to listen to anyone.
Edit: Maybe MorbidSniper or LiquidBronze could add the 7791 install as a download option. I currently can't host or upload files easily, and it would be best to have them here where others can download if needed.

I am playing a leisurely replay on 7791 and no problems and it does what I want, so anyone not liking all his changes can play that version, it's been very solid no problems at all. Only missing the new developer's small tweaks and removal of some features.

I agree, sorry to tell him there is cheat engine and other things, so it's pointless anyway, he does some things right others seem random and is his vision, so be it, I can play even the first early release of STALKER LA with removed movies etc, I can get it working, no sweat off my brow.

From the latest readme for patch 7956:

4) On the engine level, the ability to disable head swing and helmet effects on dx10-11 has been removed
8) Completely cut out the first person shadow

I know there are no devs of this here, is no one in the community speaking out against removing all these things including saves and modes like god mode so you can test your mod or if you happen to be handicapped/87 years old? Wow, what developer rips out so many features and calls it an update?

It's quite a long install process as you know, I made a backup of a clean 1.4007 install so I don't have to install that each time if something goes wrong.

I am running the newest v2.80 LADC Extended and build version 7791 which I downloaded from the google drive link Drive.google.com in the instructions on how to install.

I then updated the LADC Extended v2.80 from the launcher under the Mods tab, and installed LADC Extended_eng_V.3.6, then installed the 7791 bins. All these different version numbers are confusing. In the STALKER game menu after you start the game it says V2.60 Build #7791.

I7 4770K 16 GB and The RX 480 4 GB runs this in DX11 with all setting maxed except shadows which are already great at the default.

I hope you can isolate you problem, try making sure your drivers are up to date, try to find another person with a config similar to yours and see what settings they use on LADC Extended. I think you will be able to fix it.
Update: With some searching I was able to find the build version 7942, it actually says 7956 so it must have been further updated. No problems but the developer did remove god mode cheat, which for a game that people have played for so long is not really a good move. I guess he feels he has saved the whole world by removing people's ability to just enjoy the game and not be stressed out by dying every minute.

The RX 480 4 GB runs this in DX11 with all setting maxed, except shadow detail to a reasonable setting at 1080P, the new version the launcher downloaded even has excellent water and now it shows splashing when you walk in water like it should on AMD. Really a solid release of STALKER, devs did a great work.

Ok, sometimes the configuration and when to check not check what to install or not to install can be hard to understand, thank you for letting me know that it's updated through the launcher, I do notice the launcher will stop working occasionally and I know it's not your fault, maybe just using a configuration file or some other tried and true method to alleviate this could be found. I recently have it up and running great, so kudos my friend!

MorbidSniper,

Please post updated versions if they have substantial updates so that us English speakers can join the fun.

"-dev mode enabler (launch the game from the provided bat) [WARNING: the last version in which it will work is 2.68 for the mod and 7791 bins, since the developer is a pissy little **** and thinks that cheating is worse than being a virgin that he is)"

Haha. If you can communicate that some people have been playing the original Stalker and LA for a combined amount of years that is close to decades, some of us have already beaten the game, so having a dev mode should be a possibility, not all of us are hardcore gamers where is a near death penalty for enjoying a game. Also we can use an earlier version and it doesn't really matter anyway, it is just a game.

Ok thank you for the info. Do you know if the ATI water fix works with LADCe? As many AMD cards are out in the wild I don't see too much information about running LACDe on them. Also I don't mind an occasional crash, I've finished the game so many times mostly I play it to just have some fun.
Edit: Seems if you install the ATI water fix when installing Lost Alpha 1.4007 at the beginning not later in the mod section it should work. After installing everything for LADCe I went to the Mods tab and installed the ATI Water fix and it works! Also the EAX reverb is working much better than previous versions! The RX 480 is running this excellently, no crashes at all so far!

This worked where Creative Alchemy would not for Painkiller Resurrection. I will be using this for lots of classic games. Creative Alchemy is nice, although it seems it doesn't work for many games.

It's rather interesting that Creative leaves a lot of work for other good hearted people to pick up long after the sale of their hardware, they seem to only support new games and Alchemy is no longer updated, and their support forums are closed. Thank you for your much appreciated work!
