Such an excellent mod, so great to see older games given a fresh coat of paint to even dazzle the ones that played it on release day in 1997.

I didn't want to pay the early adopter tax for RTX, so I enjoyed this on an AMD card, soon AMD will be able to push some raytracing too!

I'd recommend taking a break and playing something else and come back and replay later from a new game. I had a playthrough like that years ago, I limped through it by avoiding certain areas of the map, otherwise it would crash out. It was fixed in a later patch.

Sometimes I think things can get saved wrong or something, going back to an earlier save sometimes can fix it. I hope you get it working at some point!

Ok thanks, I have it working to a degree, I have also used the files I mentioned before to get 5.1 surround, if I keep it on Generic Software I only get stereo.

I remember the effects being more pronounced in other playthroughs, so if the more evident EAX effects for tunnels could be reinstated that would be great.

Or it might still be possible I need to reinstall my sound drivers or something like that, I have moved on to other games at this point, STALKER is still one of my favorite games, I have gotten plenty of fun out of it so far, it doesn't really matter at this point.

Here is the X ray log portion for sound, it is only in stereo and no EAX effects, even though it shows as present. Choosing Generic Software on Speakers (Sound Blaster Z) in the games audio menu after launching the game still stereo and no EAX. Extremely difficult to figure out where the problem is. 1.4006 works if I replace the files with the Openal32.dll and wrap_oal.dll from "Updated Openal for Stalker Lost Alpha". Seems something changed in 1.4007.

I reinstalled, and did have an option for generic software, but it is stereo only no surround and still doesn't have EAX reverb. The X Ray log file does now say * SOUND: EAX extension: present
* SOUND: EAX deferred: present
but it doesn't use it.

I applied the engine update, and the same thing, stereo only no surround and still doesn't have EAX reverb. The X Ray log file does now say * SOUND: EAX extension: present
* SOUND: EAX deferred: present
but it doesn't use it.

If I go into the options and select 'Speakers Soundblaster Z' to attempt to select hardware accelerated sound, when I run the game, it crashes and the error says c:\windows\system32\sens_oal.dll.

I am reinstalling, and I will try the engine update, I wasn't aware of it yet, thank you! I will report back, hopefully that will do it.

I did see on Youtube some play throughs that did have reverb, so it's either something on my system Win 10 1903 or something with Openal? I hope to figure it out!

Here is what it says in the X-Ray log, seems it doesn't want to see EAX, which could be why there are no reverb effects.

* SOUND: EAX extension: absent
* SOUND: EAX deferred: absent

It's all very confusing, it only lists DirectSound software, so it can't use EAX, or what? It's very confusing, as
"1.3002 onwards only supports non-OpenAL software driver (described in menu as DirectSound), though OpenAL32.dll is still being used, and can be replaced with Win32 OpenAL Soft library, to enhance positioning"

It is referred to as software, yet OpenAL is still being used. So why not label it OpenAL? I've seen some strange logic puzzles, this one takes the cake.

1. DirectSound Software, spec. 1.1 (default)
2. DirectSound Software on Speakers (Sound Blaster Z), spec. 1.1

Thanks for the information.

How do I set it to Generic Sound as the output? So in the game audio settings I should NOT choose 'Direct Sound software on Soundblaster Z'? Just 'Direct Sound Software'? I tried that, no change.

All these files, check boxes, settings in the game are so many that it seems nearly impossible to troubleshoot.

I have to copy the Openal32.dll and wrap_oal.dll from "Updated Openal for Stalker Lost Alpha". If I just leave the OpenAL32.dll from the 1.4007 installer I get a crash at start up.

For me, ticking 'Output via DirectSound' in the launcher doesn't seem to make it any different. Still no reverb effect I can hear. It used to be extremely apparent that reverb effects were in use right at the start of the game as the trader's voice had an undeniable reverb effect on earlier versions like 1.4006, now I get no reverb.

Thanks for the information, you gave me some stuff to try, do you think the reverb in 1.4007 is less than 1.4006? Maybe it's toned down so much it's working and I just am used to lots of reverb and now there is little to none?

According to the Pcgamingwiki.com 1.3002 onwards only supports non-OpenAL software driver (described in menu as DirectSound), though OpenAL32.dll is still being used, and can be replaced with Win32 OpenAL Soft library, to enhance positioning (Rapture3D 2.7.4 no longer works like in SoC, returning error). Copied dsound.dll to the game directory has priority over OpenAL library, so don't forget to delete dsound.dll if you want to use OpenAL (1.4005).

Does anyone know if all of the EAX reverberation has been removed from 1.4007? I do not hear it at all, I do hear surround from the rear speakers on the Sound Blaster Z, but earlier versions had much more reverb and I miss it. Is there any way to re-add the reverberation to 1.4007?

I see in the release notes for 1.4007

- Added a lot of sound zones to the game levels, where the reverberation effect takes effect if the EAX option is enabled

I don't hear it, can someone post a guide for getting the correct sound files for the SoundBlaster Z and configuration?

I have used some files from an earlier 1.4005 called "Updated Openal for Stalker Lost Alpha" which includes Openal32.dll and wrap_oal.dll, this worked for ealier versions.

Figuring out what files to replace, add, delete etc. is very confusing. If someone has figured it out please share. Thank you!

Good to know. Seems like your RAM amount is fine. It might take a while, but reinstalling might be worth a try. It could be a corrupt file, or lots of other gremlins, sometimes it's hard to nail down. Please post what you find out if you get it fixed. I have been having a good play through with no crashes but as the levels progress anything can happen!

My weapons pack was updated when I ran the launcher last time. You may have to contact the person who makes the weapons mod.
How much RAM does your system have? How much RAM does your video card have? I have 4 GB system and 4 GB video on the R9 290X. I haven't had any crashes yet. I hope you find a fix for your problem.

If you want god mode add -developer to the launcher shortcut and then check the developer mode box in the launcher.

If we get an answer, it sure would be great to get some bugs squashed and the Antennas level patched in, even incomplete, by a modder.

I have hope that some good hearted coder will fix all these problems so the game can at least be as playable and non-buggy as 1.4005. A stalker can dream, also I guess there is a Stalker 2 game in development too, so it isn't so bad.

Success! Thanks for the heads up on what my stalker is in for, it seems like all the versions did have a few tweaks to mix it up even if you played before, good times!

It's possible as you say if the finish flags for the mission are getting somehow set where it's an unwinnable mix like you mention, if another mutant or any enemy kills one of them, it just can't complete.

Very interesting. I am not using extended A-Life, I hope you get past it, I am currently playing some other titles and Lost Alpha and am not that far along, I know that specific part of the game has been buggy/challenging many times I've played it, good luck stalker! Let us know if you can get a mission success.

I've had the problem in earlier versions, usually I just load a previous savegame and make sure to take them out as quick as I can. One thing to remember, in Stalker LA always backup your savegames to another directory after a long play session, because they can save you hours in the long run.

Make sure no other setup is running, to be extra sure reboot. If all bins and setup and the md5 is there, it should work, next maybe your files are corrupt, try to redownload.

Make sure you also extract IsMd5.md5, it has to be there and then it reads the bin files and installs.

Glad to provide a stalker some help. I hope you can find a fix it sounds like you have checked everything I would have, and have a good understanding of the setup, maybe DDU will pull through. When in doubt, DDU I say, LOL. I hope the ATI fix mod gets updated also, I like my ATI color quality and performance.

Unfortunately only community patches will be moving forward, the developers have moved on to other projects.

I'd try disabling all mods, and trying to isolate your problem. Try using the various renderers, try DX 10 and 11. At this point lots of others have only a minor problem, crashes occasionally on ATI, so you should be able to find out what it is at some point. Also check to make sure everything is good on your system drivers, for AMD/ATI sometimes the only way to fix things is to use a utility for uninstalling the drivers. Look up Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU).

Sorry I can't give you a specific fix, although I do not ever use quick saves due to having problems, since six years of playing.

I did have a problem during a play through like yours on a much earlier version 1.4003 and the only way I could fix it was to teleport away from where the error would occur and then never go back to that area, I was able to finish the play through, except depending on if you need to return to an area or not, you may have a broken script system because an NPC is dead or such and sometimes loading an earlier save can fix it.

Some time must pass before you can sleep again.

It takes a little while for the bandages to work, if it continues to happen a lot reply and maybe the devs can look at it. I hope there will be a bug fix patch, the devs will determine if and when.

I have an AMD/ATI card and had only a few crashes, I never use the quicksave, I'm not sure if quicksave is fixed in 1.4007, I just use the save menu. Maybe as Dawbra said use regular save, and reply to the thread that it did/didn't alleviate your crashes.

Ok that may be a bug then. It's not for certain we will get any more patches, hopefully we will get a small bugfix patch, and the devs will find and fix a bug in the car coding.

Devs or someone else may know more, my thoughts are this is a design decision to have a damage and repair function in the game. Maybe keep an eye on the condition on the car, repair as needed. Yes 3 repairs seems a bit much, although is it a road car not built for much off road or pedal to the metal? It probably should tear up quick.

Maybe look into the mods you have installed, some are dependent on other mods, the descriptions detail what other mods you can or can't have installed, maybe you have a mod installed and the 'r2_ls_bloom_build_2218 not found' is pointing to a mod needs to be installed or maybe not installed to get them to all work together.
