You'd think killing literally dozens of them would do the trick. I, too, wish there was a way to permanently make them hostile.

I've been playing Brutal Doom for years. I've played some of the earliest available versions of the mod, all the way up to the latest. I've never had this problem, across any of them. Are you using a recent version of GZdoom or Zandronum?

I haven't played for a while, I'll admit, but I never crashed playing gunslinger, except for trying to start a new game after the end credits, and that's due to a well-known engine bug. Are the new versions buggier or something?

Bethesda *definitely* was inspired by Brutal Doom, as well they should've been.
Also, the cancelled Doom 4 would have been awesome.

Use the gauss rifle, Luke. Use it judiciously. Nothing else will do in that situation, and it was given to you by the main quest for a very good reason.

There are some steps you need to take if you want it to work. There are videos on YouTube showing it working and claiming to give instructions on how to set it up. Like I said, it's too much of a hassle for me to go through, so I haven't bothered, but supposedly it's possible.

Yeah, that's really annoying. Biggest downside to playing vanilla, honestly. I got used to it after playing CoP practically at launch, but I still don't particularly *like* it.

If I'm not mistaken, Atmosfear can extend the draw range, and apparently this can be made to work with Gunslinger. You might consider giving it a try, though it's too much hassle for me, personally.

Yeah, I miss the tracers. They might not be strictly a hundred percent realistic, but it would be nice to have them back.

I would argue that the VSS kicks all kinds of butt, but I agree that the P90 feels pretty pathetic.

Actually, the HUD works on lower difficulties. If you want a HUD on the hardest difficulty, through normal gameplay, you can simply get the thermal scanner upgrade from Nitro on any Tactical Helmet. This will give you the normal HUD without having to reduce difficulty, so long as you have the helmet equipped

Maybe he is a little bit, but Controllers are supposed to be almost certain death when attacked head-on. Don't be so proud that you can't turn and run, then hit the guy from the sides or from behind. I don't know if psy-block pills actually help slow down his control, but I use them anyway. Just do your best to put something between you and him as you run away, then do a big loop around his flank. Only try a head-on attack if you have something really powerful, like an upgraded VSS or a gauss rifle.

I'm sorry, I really don't have a clue. It's possible that you might be installing it wrong. And, no, I'm not calling you dumb. At least you're no dumber than I am, because I installed it incorrectly the first time, too. You're supposed to install the game in its own folder separate from the main game. That's the part I messed up. Also, be sure you're pointing the installer to the correct location of your existing Call of Pripyat install.

If nothing else, the game should be generating a crash log. That might shed some light on what it's complaining about when it crashes.

Ha, I just got that one myself. It's my favorite handgun in the game by far!

I'd still like to get an APS for completions' sake. No luck at all.

In many, many hours of playing, I finally managed to get my first crash.

Playing the One Shot mission in Pripyat, my game crashed when I tried to equip the SVD rifle the mission gave me.

The mercs carry P90's very reliably most of the time. I've never found the APS, either, but a full-auto Glock does the job well enough, I guess.

The UMP45 can only be gotten one specific way, as far as I know...

I've heard people have gotten it to work with Atmosfear. As far as other mods go, it would be nice if one day Gunslinger could end up in something like Call of Chernobyl. I'm not sure anyone's had luck with that or not.

Glock is super rare. The only reliable drop is Skull at the Jupiter plant. You know, the "YUR WERM FOOD" guy.

Supposedly the APS is in there somewhere, but I've never seen it. It seems the only way to get the UMP45 is to order it from Nimble. It's frickin' awesome by the way.

HUD elements are reduced based on the difficulty level, with the highest difficulty having no HUD elements whatsoever.

Instead of crosshairs, we now have laser sights. Mercenaries like to carry P90's, which without exception have lasers built right in. Maybe you could politely ask one of them to let you "borrow" his weapon for a while. ;-)

The highest-tier computer upgrades I think have been only just made accessible by the latest update to the mod. I'm going to try the update tonight and find out for myself. :-)
