DoctorX Call of The Zone 1.0
Installation:
- IMPORTANT: You will need to install Visual C++ Redist 2013 x86, available from Microsoft: Visual C++ Redist 2013
- IMPORTANT: You will need to install DirectX End-User Runtimes 2010, available from Microsoft: DirectX Runtimes 2010
- Unzip the contents of the CoTZ release download to the install location of your choice. There is no installer, so once unzipped the game will be ready to play. NOTE: CoTZ is a standalone game. Do not install on top of CoP or CoC. Install it into its own folder.
**Note** - Avoid installing into your Windows C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86) folders or the game may not start correctly. Install into a separate partition or directly into your C:\ drive (thanks Sanctuary!)
- Launch the game (Stalker-CoTZ.exe), go into Options->Video and select your screen resolution, render type (DirectX 9-Enhanced or DirectX 10-Enhanced recommended), and quality preset
- Apply your settings, then exit the game.
- CoTZ is now ready to play. Start a new game, select your faction, name, player icon, and starting location. Check your PDA for the location of the first contact that will begin your journey into the Zone.

A perfect mod! This mod tells everything about why you don't always need to have the most HD wpn pack to get the best stalker experience of all mods, this is the most balanced and stable coc based mod you will ever play, at the expense of having to deal with vanilla cop weapons.
If you have a decent pc like mine you can install TwoK Texture pack that replaces all those old vanilla textures so you get something close to Anomaly in terms of graphics but with better stability (barely no ctd's).
Well, I mean...you don't *need* a weapon pack...but those left-hand models have always driven me a little crazy...
Won't run for me ,just immediate CTD. Tried it on 2 different Win 10 installations - same problem. Reinstalled/updated both C++ & DirectX.
Any suggestions please.
Are you installing it in its own folder? CoTZ is a standalone installation and should not be installed in the same folder as CoP or CoC.

yes, game installed in own folder. Tried to run multiple times but still continually CTD. Intro pic shows, then black screen for a second, then CTD. Also redownloaded & reinstalled but no joy. Regards.
Can you check in appdata\logs and see if a crash log was generated?
If so, please open a thread in the troubleshooting forum and post it there and we'll see if we can figure out what might be causing the problem.

ok i juust came up with solution, if u unpack this to precreated folfer, for example "D -> folder -> stalker call of the zone" it wont work, but if u just cut it out and put just "D -> stalker call of the zone" it will launch correctly

some radio songs are awful and out of place: kalinka-malinka in yantar base, horrible dirge for the planet (old version, 2005)
You can edit the playlist file configs\plugins\radio_music.ltx to remove or change the songs that will play at each radio location.

Now that's what i'm talking about. Too bad i lost my GPU but, even on 720 dx8 i'm still going to give it a go XD
Congrats on this mod. Its working fine for me (About 4 Hours ingame so far, no crashes.)
I got some minor issues to report though:
1st: sometimes when i am in mainmenu and go back to game, the mouse Cursor is displayed at the left side of the crossair and wont leave till i Restart the game.
2nd: Broken Mission "recover gunsmith tool for xenotech"...when i Approach the Bandit guy in agroprom, the quest marker Points to his corpse (he was dead on Arrival), but searching him just Shows Nothing, especially not the gunsmith Tools...when i drag the corpse, the quest marker moves to the same place, so it must be connected to the Body.....
3rd: Is there some Kind of disguise System as known from other cop mods ? as soon as i wear a clear sky Outfit, bandits Approach neutral (though i chose "loner" from the start and allready killed several bandits)…i did Change the Outfit in the middle of the clear sky camp and therefore wondered, why i wouldnt be remebered as loner….
1. I've seen that happen once or twice. Not sure what's causing it but I'll look into it.
2. The toolkit might be on another member of his squad if any are still left alive, or it could have failed to spawn properly. Try quicksaving and reloading and see if the icon marker moves to another target. If not, you can just go back to Xenotech and tell him you couldn't complete the task. He'll re-offer the same task after a few hours.
3. No disguise system. Your faction relations with the Bandits might have increased to where you are neutral with them now. Even if Loners and Bandits are still enemies, if they are on the verge of becoming neutral your personal reputation can give your relations enough of a boost to make you neutral or allied before the rest of your faction.
Wow, that was a real fast answer, thanks. I have tried loading/Saving before, as well as looting the other corpses around….gonna re try the quest so via xenotech…
About the factions: i have become hostile to the ecologists, though neither killing members nor doing quests for hostile factions (bandits f.e.)...and i cant fetch quests with eco members from now on, because they appear directly aggressive….seems to be related so dynamic Relations or so ?
Yup. Faction relations can and will change throughout the game, and not all of it is under your control. Not only are you fighting with other factions, but they are all fighting with each other. Anytime someone kills someone else in the Zone, it affects the relations between factions, regardless of if it was you or an npc that did the killing.
Is there a way to download some graphical pack that makes it look normal? Mod is awesome, but I can't stand this high contrast bollocks that comes up from CoC, it ruins the game for me, everything is either pitch black or bright, it looks like shite
Turn down the contrast slider in the options menu.

I kept the vanilla weapons (with enhanced textures) since everyone has their own taste as far as which weapons pack they like the most, so I left it open to the addon developers. lokStre recently added one: Moddb.com and I'm sure there will be plenty of others added in the future.
Personally to me, updated version of windows 10 pro, the game does not start
