That's what she said.
(Version 1.3.1) This bug (pink roof, purple windows) is fixed by entering buildcubemaps in the console. An unfixed (and probably unrelated) bug: the game will freeze partway down the second stairwell.
Scripting does not work, which makes the mod unplayable: the teleporter will not open, Kleiner will not open the door, Dog will not move the car (Dog follows Gordon, but does not do anything else).
Hilarious! I played this late last night and it was difficult to keep from laughing loud enough to wake everyone in the house.
41 scanners (including AVG) say no: Virustotal.com
There is an excellent HL1 map by the same developer:
There is also a torrent:
The tracker is down, but µTorrent is DLing at over 100 kB/s (using DHT and Peer Exchange).
Very nice mapping. I like that there are very few invisible walls, which allows climbing across shipping containers and rooftops.
Two technical problems:
1)Music volume is at maximum and can not be lowered.
2)Will not start in widescreen.
Nicely mapped, but there is some lack of interactivity: only the first of dozens of doors opens, there are no vehicles or elevators, and NPCs are very sparse.
Three technical problems:
1)Music volume is at maximum and can't be lowered.
2)Will not start in widescreen.
3)Installer uses wrong directory.
"YOU LOOSE!!!!"
- on-screen text message during second-to-last level
Mostly very good, with four faults:
1)Two alarms going at the same time with no way to shut them off.
2)Invisible walls.
3)Infinitely respawning Combine soldiers.
4)Unsatisfying ending: the fade to black starts at the instant of the fatal hit on the gunship, leaving the player without the reward of seeing the gunship gibs on the ground.
Oops! Actually, not everything works with the EP2 engine.
This works with the new engine! Put the maps in ep2/maps instead of HL2/maps. Looks 2x better!
Very fun use of rooftops! It could use some more active backdrop like civilians, moving train, and birds. Waiting for the scripted power-plant explosions while hearing that alarm was very annoying. Apart from the above, I really enjoyed playing these maps.
Most of them are normal. There are about ten of these in the entire game.
Is this a second upload of the same file: 'leonhl2_1.zip'?
The summary is misleading: "Maximize your Orange Box experience with City 7: Toronto Conflict, our latest mod featuring urban warfare in the rugged streets of downtown Toronto." 'City 7: Toronto Conflict' does not use the 'Orange Box' engine; it uses the original 'Half-Life 2' engine. 'gameinfo.txt' can be modified to force 'City 7: Toronto Conflict' to use the 'Orange Box' engine, but there is no HDR or other 'Orange Box' map features. One advantage to forcing the newer engine: you can use the new video settings (higher AA, FOV).
Here is some info about the music volume problem: interlopers.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=370610
The second from last post seems to have the solution.
I DLed and played V1 yesterday before I knew about V1.1. See 'VERSION HISTORY' here: www dot torontoconflict dot com/city7_v1.html. 'Games On Net' and 'Ausgamers' both have V1.1.
Drive through the gate between the guard towers. The gate will open automatically.
Here is how to silence the music: all the music is in \Strider_Mountain\sound\music\sm. Make a new folder in 'sm' and move the contents of 'sm' into the new folder. I am surprised that worked.
1)The music volume is at "0" and it is still loud. This is a common problem and I suspect it may be the fault of the Source engine, but if there is a workaround it would be helpful to include that info in the readme file.
2)Some of the textures are too low resolution.
3)Very monotonous: I am at the second point on the roadmap and I am bored now.
I will try to play a little at a time to finish the mod. If it is more of the same from "DUE NORTH" through "SUMMIT" I will stop playing and score it. I might play the entire mod even if it is just more run-and-gun, because I am a mod junkie.
Fun to play. Looks great! The ending was a little unclear. 9/10

tundra_cool: The red lines in the console are there to tell you what needs to be fixed.
Very good: 9/10. One bug: on widescreen systems it will fail to start with no explanation. The workaround is to set a launch option for a 4:3 rez "-width 1024 -height 768" and then change to widescreen in the game GUI. The widescreen menu background is also sometimes a pink and black checkerboard pattern.
