Call of Pripyat Complete

Mod review

It's funny how all the rage towards Complete could've been solved if the author were honest about it and had written "This makes the game easier" at the summary...

Extremely obsolete mod that makes the game easier, I wouldn't be surprised if this still had known crashes in certain key missions.

What makes this one the worst of the complete series (apart from the CTDs) is the fact that CoP did not need a complete mod at all, I've finished CoP vanilla 3 times and I can assure you that my playthroughs had less bugs than bigger open-world tittles had.

All Complete mods are basically texture packs + old bug fix projects + random scrub tweaks that make the gameplay look like CoD on easy difficulty, you can have a much better experience by looking for more recent bug fixing projects and texture packs.

Apart from the fact that the author, after all these years still lies to hundreds of people by saying this is the "improved vanilla experience" Complete wouldn't be so bad or make so many stalker fans mad, but nope, let's make a huge marketing campaign and then pretend our mods are still relevant compared to so many more recent stalker mods.

In my opinion, the real shame here is the fact that blind fanboyism keeps this mod on the first page next to much greater mods, this is practically an insult to people who are still working on improving the stalker franchise.

Complete mods were "good" on 2010, but stop fooling yourselves people, you can make your own version of "Complete" yourselves by spending 30 minutes merging far superior bug fixing projects and texture packs at your own preference.

If you are one of those people who still believe Complete is the "improved vanilla experience" then feel free to downvote me all you want.

My fingers regret nothing.

The Merge mods

Mod review

When I downloaded this mod I thought it would be something good for beginners who want a modded first playthrough without having to install scrub mods, as most "newbie" mods tend to make the game pathetic, stealing away the magical STALKER experience from the player.

I was wrong, this mod was not meant for beginners in the stalker franchise at all, random anomalies and strong mutants randomly showing up in areas where they "shouldn't" quickly made that clear, even though this mod is harder than vanilla, it still feels like it kept the core gameplay intact while adding a few new features, this mod reminds me a lot of Oblivion Lost for ShoC: keep the game intact while adding a few surprises for the player who is alredy familiar with the original playthrough.

+ This mod has everything a person would want merged together, gameplay/textures/features all into the same pack, no headaches merging gamedatas by yourself.
+ Makes the game harder, however it doesn't turn CoP into a completely different game like others do (this is technically not a bad thing, however some people want new experiences while others want an improved original experience.
+ Quite stable, I haven't had any CTDs while playing this, though I didn't really finish all Pripyat quests.
+ Random anomalies and mutants will keep the player's attention at all times when exploring the zone... You might get frustrated by holding your bolt all the time though.

Overall I would definitely recommend this mod to anyone who wants a "harder vanilla" game without feeling like it's a complete overhaul.

Roma Surrectum II

Mod review

The best mod available to forget the huge nuclear disaster that was Rome 2's release.

Economy is challenging, upgrading setlements has a lot more depth and units historically accurate... Or at least that's what they say, I was too busy playing this mod to go to History class.

This is the most bizarre mod that I've ever seen, everything is Nicolas Cagetastic, everyone is Cage.

Lots of hilarious detail to even the smallest textures and sounds in-game.

10/10 would THE BEES!!! again.

Super Mod Pack 2.4

Mod review

It seems that whatever this mod promises is alredy included in Oblivion Lost U.L.T.I.M.A.T.E, it pains me to say such thing to a STALKER mod, and I even tried to be as civil as possible towards complete, but this modpack is not worth it if you know what you want and where to look.

Installation alone is hell, not complicated, just tiresome and it feels as if it's not worth the hassle, CTDs and instability is always present in this as well.

A real shame considering all the things this mod was aiming to become.

The Armed Zone

Mod review

MUH GUNZ! MUH FREEDOMS!

Translation: Few, barely noticeable bugs, don't think I had any CTDs caused by this mod. Good variety which is always nice.

EDIT: I felt the need to edit my review and bump my 9 to 10, the author of this mod is working hard on improving the vast selection of guns each version, every Misery playthrough feels like treasure hunting as you never know what guns you will find, sure you can expect freedom to still carry NATO weapons or Duty to have Aks up their ***** but trust me, you will never truly know what to expect when checking a corpse's inventory with this mod.

Some of the weapons are still a bit ugly, but it's not like anyone is forcing you to use those, I'm sure you can ignore 3~5 ugly guns and move on to dozens of awesome weaponry this mod introduces.

If you enjoy Misery and want something to fresh your gameplay up then definitely download this. If you like guns then definitely download this. If you want more surprises when scavenging the zone then definitely download this. If you want the adrenaline of hiding behind a tiny rock with some random Zone douche unloading a M60 on you then definitely download this.

Floris Mod Pack

Mod review

This is the best WB mod in my opinion.

It's pretty much Native, only with everything improved.

Pro:

+Great graphics.

+Tournaments are a lot more unique (and fully customizable).

+A few new items, nothing that doesn't fit Calradia's lore.

+Great diplomacy options... Though it's not exactly from Floris it fights perfectly into the mod.

+Too many new features to separate them all in a single review, all beneficial to the player too... Just pretend there's something like 30 pros in here.

So-So:

-/-Since enemies prefer to send in reinforcements instead of ending the skirmish and trying again later, castle and town battles during sieges might become a rare sight.

-/-The expanded troops are a little confusing at first, the fact that their names are not in english doesn't help either... However they are completely optional and the player can completely avoid them if he wishes to do so.

Perisno

Mod review

Usually I would give this an 8 for the few remaining bugs and engine "limitations" that might make some dialogue or scenery act a bit strange, but the dev team of this mod is constantly working on bug fixes, reading suggestions and interacting with the community in general, you can't really give nothing lesser than 10 to such kind hardworkers.

As for the mod, Perisno is the greatest mix of medieval warfare and fantasy in my opinion, you won't see a bunch of goofy wizards or giant dragons setting the entire battlefield on fire making regular units useless, think of the medieval warfare as the main dish and the fantasy as the spice used on said dish.

Pro:

+Great variety of items, armor, weapons and mounts. All very well done.

+Unique quests, some give you lore, others give you amazing rewards.

+If you thought units in Native took too little time to reach their full potential then you'll love units in Perisno, the true elite units in this mod are no pushovers, dueling with righ-ranked lords is no easy task either.

+The lore remains very neutral and impartial towards factions, there is no black and white in Perisno, even the elves could be considered evil depending on the player's opinion, don't expect any "Lulz shoot deh bad guise" quests in this mod, who is the bad guy here is completely up to your own opinion.

+Solid Dev team who listens to suggestions and responds even when they're complete ****, if I put any con here it'll probably be fixed in a future update.

So-So:

-/-A LOT of factions and sub-factions, the lore feels a bit overwhelming at first, so you might want to read a thread somewhere about Perisno's lore to understand what you put yourself into.

Con:

-Companions seem a bit recycled because there is a lot of re-used native dialogue from original ones.
-A few dialogue and unique quest flaws (like princesses acting like debauched male grunts due to dialog limitation), nothing serious though, devs might fix soon.

10/10, would bang lesbo princess.
