Burers too stronk, plz nerf. lol

No but seriously, I've been really enjoying the mod, but the Burers are insane. They can hold up their shield indefinitely, they take so much of your health when you're disarmed that if you pull out another gun (which will immediately be taken again), you just instantly die.

"But Kevin, they can only take your weapon if you have no stamina!"

Yeah, and they just instantly drain your stamina to nothing the moment they see you...

And that's not even talking about how much health they have. Even if you do manage to peek around a corner and dump a mag into their face, it's very unlikely that you kill them. And that's assuming you even can get a headshot because the little jerk will just put up his shield and stand there forever until you turn away, in which case you'll probably be flattened by a nearby box or something.

I've had no issues killing the Controllers I've run into. They're powerful, and I think the part where they can make you kill yourself is hilariously cool... but Burers are another story.

Some say that the AI hasn't been touched by this mod, but that's clearly not the case. I can kill Burers just fine in vanilla CoP... why can't I do it in this mod?

The game will be in English if your version of Call of Pripyat is in English. The only stuff that won't be in English are titles of things that were changed for Gunslinger, but they won't be in Russian. It's like they're using custom file names and pulling strings from that data. So instead of seeing something like "Antidote", you might see "gunslin_edible_antidote" or something like that. All of the normal stuff like dialog options, quest objectives, in-game speech, etc are in English.

It's not hard to figure it out, plus you can't use the standard tools to unpack the mod's db files, so that's probably why there isn't an actual translation for it yet.

This compatibility patch will make Atmosfear work just fine with the latest version of Gunslinger:

Moddb.com

Granted, I've not done a THOROUGH test. I've only been around the Zaton area for a couple hours, but I've had no issues with these mods working together. You need to follow the installation instructions though. You can find that tutorial here. It's pretty simple.

I currently have Atmosfear 3, Absolute Nature 4, Absolute Structures, and the HD character model pack for Gunslinger installed and with the exception of my PC having an AMD CPU (so the game runs like poo), I've had no issues with crashes or weird bugs or anything else.

Would it be possible to either have switch distance adjustable when updating/installing (like the AF options) or for you guys to release the alife.lxt file as a separate download so we can make our own adjustments? The game stutters a LOT for me, and I'd really like to be able to tweak that setting.

30 seconds feels accurate to me. I don't know how any of this works, to be honest, but I was sent to a southern location in the swamps while playing earlier to clear out the small village to the west of the church. I passed through the church, killing the Clear Sky members who were there. By the time I searched the bodies, two more showed up. I looted them and moved on to the village and cleared it. Got the notification for clearing it as well. As I was looting corpses, another Clear Sky member showed up and I killed him. I continued looting corpses and another showed up... and then another soon after that.

I only spent a few minutes in that village and 3 people spawned one after another and entered that village, running for the fire pit in the middle.

I killed the last one, looted him quickly, and then headed back toward the church, which had already repopulated with at least 3 Clear Sky dudes (I didn't stick around long enough to kill them and do a head count).

So basically, in the 15 minutes or so that it took me to clear two areas, the first area had respawned several NPCs, and the second area actively respawned 3 while I was still searching corpses... which is a little insane, imo.

I can't make this work. I'm trying to get it running with Atmosfear 3, Absolute Structures 2, and Absolute Nature 3.

I installed Atmosfear, Abs Structures, and Abs Nature in that order, started a new game, the game runs fine, installed OWR Lite, started a new game and... crash.

It crashes immediately while trying to load. It's a real shame, too, because I'm trying to do a "vanilla" playthrough of CoP, but vanilla CoP is ugly. All I want is some mods that make the game look prettier overall without affecting the gameplay too much.

I'm running the Steam version, by the way. 1.6.02, I believe. No sure if that has anything to do with it.

Yeah, I eventually figured that out after the problem went away when I turned off both eclipses and blowouts.

I just didn't know it was an eclipse because I wasn't expecting it to happen daily, and I wasn't expecting it to act like an emission at all. I figured it would just be a gradual thing that slowly comes on and lasts for an in-game hour or so.

Thanks though.

I don't mean to put unrelated comments on this page (though it is slightly related, I guess)... but I've been playing the SGM 2.2 Lost Soul mod. As far as I know, it's just SGM 2.2 with some graphics changes, and I really like those changes.

Anyways, I've been having this weird weather occurrence that acts like a Blowout, but it's all messed up. And when it happens, it results in day being turned to night for a time. I made a video of it happening in the marsh map.

Just wondering this was a common problem for SGM at some point, and how it was maybe fixed? Or maybe it's a feature, idk...

I'd ask over on the forum that has all of the info for Lost Soul but... I don't speak Russian. :/

Bah. Seems to be a DX10 problem. Doesn't happen on DX11. Disregard this.

Well, this has turned out to be completely unplayable. It runs fine... but it crashes within 5 minutes of playtime.

I have the game set to run as administrator... I have the steam overlay turned off... not sure what else I can do.

Yup. Same problem. Can't escape Dark Valley because you either flip the car when trying to turn, or the chopper that spawns when you get in the car destroys it if you try to take it slow.

I've tried simply running to the gate and ignoring the car completely, but I'm guessing you have to use the car to go through the gate, as the gate is closed and locked if you just walk there.

If you were a little smarter, you may have understood that PC = Player character.

Maybe you could even understand that I was in no way trying to insult you... but was simply trying to clarify.

But you're a typical America-hating non-American, so I am not offended.

Nope. Specifically blowouts. I've experienced both. Though the Psi Storm also had no custom sky box... though I've never played any of the mods that enabled Psi storms, so I honestly don't know if they're even supposed to.

Why not let people play how they wish and quit trying to force them to play your way while you're at it?

The point is obviously for it to be optional for those who have already played the game, and don't want to play through it all over again... skipping straight to the freeplay mode instead.

Some people just like exploring and shooting things. Your vote of "present" only serves to force those people into playing through content they don't need/want to experience again.

I bet you don't like it when other games allow you to skip cutscenes, do you?

The dude in the back of the bar can repair and modify weapons. Can't remember his name... Petrenko? Something like that.

He's the guy that gives you the quest to go to Dark Valley when you first visit the Bar.

So do Blowouts not have a unique skybox in this game? Survived one earlier in Garbage and it seemed to only have a standard overcast sky with the usual blowout kill-waves.

I kind of missed that feeling of impending doom I get when playing Call of Pripyat.

I've been playing 3002 and the weather changed just fine on DX10. Every once in a while, it would change instantly, which was weird... bust most of the time, it was gradual as it should be.

But I agree. Back when I played unpatched LA, there was no change at all and it was sunny constantly. I like sunny... but not all the time.

Is it really all that much of an update from 3002 though?

I ask because when I originally downloaded LA, I got to Dark Valley in the story, ran into a bug, and stopped playing. I just downloaded 3002 a few weeks ago, but the Destiny beta drew me away. Now, I'm playing 3002, and I'm almost back to Dark Valley. I really don't want to start over again, but I will if the changes are significant.

There's a huge difference between "vanilla" and 3002... so...

Pretty sure it's on the agenda... but you have to remember that this is basically the same as an Early Access game on Steam. They're trying to fix bugs and get the game running as stable as possible, then I'm sure they'll add the rest of the content they had originally planned.

I hope you guys fix some of the AI issues in a future patch. Like how the military guys at the Cordon checkpoint will just stand there as you repeatedly shoot them in the face with a Makarov.

Also, I used a Dragunov (which I got from the sniper at that aforementioned checkpoint), to shoot the sniper bandit in Garbage... hit him in the body and he just put his hands in his pockets and walked away. It was pretty funny, but stupid.

Part of the fun of Stalker is being surrounded by mutants creeping around in the dark at night.

But I agree, the flashlight is pretty bad in this. Compared to SoC/CoP anyways.

I haven't even seen neutral stalkers using headlamps. Ever.

Also, if it's a design decision to have enemies not using their headlamps in combat at night... somebody didn't really think it through. It may sound like a good idea on paper, since it makes enemies harder to detect at night, but if you're trying to create a game that is even marginally realistic, it would be safe to assume that the enemy would have a harder time spotting me if neither of us use headlamps. But that's not the case, they have no problem picking me out in the dark, even though it should be just as black outside for them as it is for me.

Of course, if I were fighting enemies in Beril suits or something, and they had night vision, it would make perfect sense, and would present a challenge. But normal soldiers who are carrying headlamps on them anyway? No sense at all...
