The Galaxies at War mod had such an awful drain on hardware for GC too. The developer added a second galaxy alongside with the vanilla galaxy and it was awful to have 10 factions moving hundreds of fleets every second.
I see both sides. The easiest way to stop a bombing run is AA turrets, while the easiest way to stop an orbital strike is shield generators. I could see this as a viable mechanic as long as the recharge/CD is doubled or even tripled (on smaller maps).
Losing your ability to due a bombing run is fair if you're on the defense since you lost control of space, it's a double edged sword, honestly.

On my own, I wound up adding the old GC maps back in, however, due to the changes to each planets position, they maps become very erratic and sometimes seemed jumbled, your empire spanning to seemingly isolated areas.
They do load just fine though. I did get a crash when entering space battle for Fondor, but I have yet to test if it's Fondor or just a random error.

I hate to say it, but I don't think it's quite possible to get the Mass Relays to function as they truly do in the ME Universe. As far as I know, the Sins engine is still locked in to having wormholes being point to point only, not the behavior for stars.
Special effect, I would hazard a special ability from the Mon Cal (i.e. Akbar's 'Concentrate Fire' ability from Empire at War)

Was there a typo in the XML? Like a broken string? The map and scripts may work fine but I know if you point an XML field to the wrong "content" then it will cause GC to crash at startup.
I figured as much. I just wasn't sure if the artifact was actually added or not since I haven't found it yet. I suppose it's super rare like the Centerpoint Station and other custom ones? Is there a list of artifacts we can look at somewhere?

I'm thinking it might be an actual unique planet. It'd make sense. The Citadel doesn't orbit any planet, but it also makes sense that it would be the Council's capital. I'm very keen to see what you do with this.

If I may ask you, how are you getting the AI to respond to space only? Last I knew, the AI wasn't equipped/built for space only and when you remove the land functions from the AI's scripting, the AI mere idles as though it's missing important information.
If there are other mods or even tutorials on the matter, I'd love to have it forwarded my way.

It's possible that the Ravager-class that Nihilus had is the design in question. It is, by other mods' standards, relatively larger than the Leviathan (which I presume is the largest design to of that era).

I definitely do use those! I play as Isard for one of those exact reasons. I like the Night Hammer, but let's face it. A potentially one time use of an ability to seal the victory is the best thing ever.
Hey, so I feel dumb, but how exactly does the Base Delta Zero work? It shows that the Propaganda Station is improved, but I would assume it's because culture rate is influenced by the BDZ. However, I thought it would be a "Fleet" option, but it wasn't. Is it a unit ability or something?

So if you're doing extra content and all that, is there any way you'll add in more stuff from Star Trek Online? I was thinking and (slightly disappointed) that the Titans weren't the 'flagships' of the Federation and Klingons, or the Odyssey-class and the Bortasqu'-class cruisers.
