Will development of more indepth and proximity-based side quests be a thing/is it possible? As in Sandro in Cordon always giving you a first mission that's IN cordon and eventually moving you to new contacts in other areas directly linked to cordon? I feel the fact that you can start a new game and take all missions and 0 of them have attainable goals until much later in game is a huge deterrent for new players.

My biggest issue here is that loadouts of STALKERS isn't tied to their rank. A rookie loner with an m4 isn't just immersion-breaking, it makes it way too easy to get high tier gear early on (in need of repairs or not, being able to fire a few rounds off from behind cover and have to reload is hardly a disadvantage except for a few clutch situations).

Any chance you'd add something like player abilities featured in VC or Silverstag. Just asking because it's a simple feature that adds a surprising amount of depth and uniqueness to characters.

I never got why different ships have the same energy levels in freelancer, I think it would be cool if this mod had variations in energy between ships.

I liked some Pop's changes and it did make the game feel challenging on a regular basis for once BUT I couldn't deal with the health module any longer. It was pure tedium and really stripped the game of any sense of believability. Humans taking multiple clips from guns was silly to me, after all, *spoiler* Johnny freaks out when he shoots you and see's it doesn't phase you and yet his boys take up to 30 rounds to down *spoiler*. It's also ironic that Jack mentions that now as a vampire you can take quite a beating, yet human enemies seem to shrug off supernatural levels of damage. That's just my perspective on Pop's.

Definitely can confirm that I wasn't fond of Pop's Difficulty mod. I played for a few hours and got through Santa Monica last night with it checked on. While, the discipline alterations and heightened damage on you are welcome and the mod really did, for once, make bloodlines feel dangerous, the new NPC health modules are pure tedium and strip the game of any believability. It took me roughly 10-15 minutes to kill the Cathayan, he's still NO harder than before because he's just as avoidable, the only times I even took damage were when I got frustrated with how long it was taking and started hitting him with my baseball bat to speed things up. One of the most immersion breaking factors is just human enemies in general and it really shows just how unintuitive the solution of increasing NPC health is: human enemies can take a beating like a seasoned vampire. Round after round, clip after clip from firearms and it's just as bad for any other damage source. It's ironic when you think of Jack describing how as a vampire you can take quite a beating.... well I guess I could as a human too. *spoiler* it's also very funny when you think of Johnny, who shoots you, sees that you're barely injured and is horrified... but all of his boys can take up to 30 rounds from most guns.

Hey burgermeister, I was wondering what your recommended setup is. I was told the basic edition of unofficial patch gives fewer experience points which I would like since I felt the game gave too much experience, is this true? Does arsenal mod make the game more challenging or is it just preference? I've done two playthroughs with CE and I don't fully agree with a lot of their changes as in guns felt too powerful and the discipline changes were questionable, is your preference P&P combat and if so does it make them game more challenging without Pop's mod? (game is too easy but I'm not sure if increased NPC hp is right solution). Thanks.

It's been less than 2 and how long do you think mods of this scale take to create/update? Look at Lost Alpha, I don't think there's been a single update on their still unreleased mod since New Years and they still have a huge following and are clearly a dedicated mod team. An even greater example would be Black Mesa, if I had to guess it's been in production for 6 years or more and there's a 40 man team behind it.

This game world and the AI especially, do not leave room for realism to be taken as a primary focus.

The AI cannot and will never be able to handle realistically accurate weapons. Either they cannot detect you well enough (vanilla) or they detect you too well. It's just the game's coding, it was never meant to be a realistic shooter. The game world is also too small (I know sounds crazy given that this is stalker but it's true) for realistic weapons since most encounters are from what are realistically: extremely close ranges. Also mutants, realistically, would die just as fast to gunfire as humans so it's pretty problematic.

One of the big features of stalker is RPG-like gear progression, which was completely thrown away with this mod. All weapons are around or at 100% effectiveness (dead on accurate, 1-2 shots kill). And the whole randomly equipped enemy thing just makes it all the worse. Side-questing becomes nothing but novelty because the only thing money is good for is the necessities which creates more tedium than fun. It's silly to think that all of the NPCs carry next to nothing when the mod makes medkits and ammo so essential. It seems like your the only one that really values them and needs them (realism contradiction and tedious).

Hey, just wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a guide or tutorial. For one I have no idea what many upgrades do on either side (for example, logistics). I also don't get many assorted facts like how many cities are required to build an aircraft factory.

No. Your criticism isn't constructive, you want the game to be more arcadey and more to YOUR liking, those weren't the intentions of the developers. Sorry, there's more than enough call of duty/counter strike styled shooters out there so go play them.

Something with campfires is causing them to be the sole source of the big fps dips, I've tested it and never realized because it's random when they start to "act up" but when they do, you can look back in their direction from pretty much anywhere on the map and take a huge fps hit. So LURK mod team, now you know the primary source of that, I couldn't figure out how to fix it myself.

yea cause hes gonna spend his time making an option pack in which he edits all 80 weapon files because you want the shooting to be more like counter strike.
You also called panzer childish for shooting your statement down. You tried to make it out like the game's shooting mechanics were unrealistic than alluded to an arcade shooter. After getting destroyed you got mad and tried to act like you meant something different and couldn't think of anything but the completely made up idea of "pleasure of shooting". Not making any sense doesn't make you any less wrong. The only thing worse than a child is a childish adult.

the game is mostly fine until later on dude. It's not the core gameplay, it's the economy, progression, and a lot of smaller things that add up.

The economy is SO funked up that it's beyond absurd how the testers could have gone through the game without notifying the devs about it, you get so much money just goin through the motions of the main storyline that it's baffling why you'd do a single side quest or go out of ur way to loot and sell stash items etc.

The progression of gear is just as flawed. L85 right off bandits in cordon.... gg. RK-95 in streloks stash. SIG off mercs in wildlands. and so on... The time weapons are made available and their costs in general are totally illogical. You'll also go through the same three suits regardless of what playthrough your on simply because out of all the suits barkeep makes two available and each one is the best for it's time in the game. The only choice you really have in gear is for novelty and nothing more.

Then there's all the small things that add up, like how having that cool new suit means nothing gameplay wise because each shot you take lowers that protection a fair amount and soon you won't have any at all. Also artifacts as quest rewards... which you sell right back to the guy that gave you them.

As you can see it's not the intentions or core gameplay that are flawed it's these things.

This is unbiased, constructive criticism, and it's only to point out things that should be looked at and fixed or tweaked for an otherwise great mod:

1. The BEST weapons are handed to you and hardly earned. You almost never feel the need to spend money on a weapon. The RK-95 is better than any weapon available to you for a while and it's impossible to miss as it's in the stash you HAVE to go to in order to progress the storyline. The AN-94, SIG, and arguably even the G3 are insanely good weapons for when they're found, damn hard to miss, and don't cost you ANYTHING. On top of this, many weapons are inappropriately priced for their quality, an example being the Groza which is worse than the RK-95 yet is higher priced and becomes available much later.
2. The economy system is totally broken, you literally get more cash than you can spend, even without doing sidequests. Opinion? Come on you know that's not what was intended.
3. The AI. I realize one of the biggest things with LURK was the AI tweaks, but when enemies don't even engage you half the time you know somethings gotta give. This is a game where you have to take cover, and 99% of the time enemies can't see you in your cover because it casts a shadow... and when you're inside some place forget it... they walk around... bump into you... as your shooting them... and don't even react. STALKER's AI was ******, but stupidly alert enemies is at least challenging while stupidly unalert enemies isn't and is even more detracting from the game's immersion and believability..

sry for double, but found the files for each "spawn" in each map and the funny thing is the ONE type of enemy I can't find in the cordon file are the bandits with the L85's..... anyone able to find this? I'm tryin to fix up some of these kinds of problems like the fact that the rk95, a really good weapon, is just handed to you in agroprom underground.
