Epic mod other than the lighting in most maps.

Please please please change the lighting effects and shaders for ships and maps.
Many maps end up having the ships look like dark blueish models rather than the nice lighter gray that the Empire looks like.

In the end, all of these beautiful improvements to the graphics get washed out due to poor lighting effects. Which ends up being a real shame.

I'm sure you get this all of the time but, any ETA or update on how far it's came along?

Hey all. Quick question about maps. How do I get more maps for this?

Long story short, it seems the map editor, FinalSun, that comes with this doesn't work for me. Every time I try to use it, it crashes on start up.

Inside the maps folder, I see Custom, Fan-made, Firestorm, mission and TS. All of these work, but I'd love to add more. So far any that I DL and place inside the Custom folder like it said, won't show up. Plus I never have the Custom option show in game. Just normal ones and Fan-made show up.

I've tried placing a few maps into those folders but they still won't show up.

Any help would be awesome! Thanks

Wish I scrolled down and saw this... I get the same thing. But a few days ago, I installed everything and... it worked! But I wanted to try other mods out, now wishing I just left it alone.

You can see my post above. Sounds just like your problem. :(

When trying to get this to run, I end up with this message after clicking launch.

"The Dawn of the Tiberium age has encountered an internal error and is unable to continue normally.

Please visit our fourms at Ppmsite.com for technical support."

Using Rampastring's TS Client version from the link in the readme with mod.
Followed the install. Moving INI, MIX and Missions into their folders.
And not touching the patch and .exe as it states.

No matter what settings I use, I get that above crash with mod. Which is weird as when I first got the client the other day and did it. It all worked.

I've tried (lost count how many times reinstalling TS Client.) reinstalling and getting the TS client up and running.

Wish I didn't uninstall it in the first place just to try other mods out. As I enjoyed the changes you have here.

I'll head to the forums from above, but I don't know if it will help.

Good news. Found out what the problem was. Some of the SP maps have their shadow opacity set to zero.

So to fix it. Two options. Go through it yourself and change them. I'm not 100% sure on doing this. I would have to dig around in the mod tools more and read up on how to do the maps.

Download IFDSR for DC and it fixes it for you. Also increases maximum fog distance and sky radius for single-player campaign maps

This is something I see in my game as well. Beautiful shadows in the skirmish mode, but none with the campaign. Makes me wonder if there are some files that need to be changed that were missed with this mod. I've taken a look, but so far, not sure. If I find something, I'll post here.

Yeah, it's the same on the video. The colors just come off too dull on smaller weapon fire for my eyes. So I can't see them that great.
You're fine on the mod sir! No worries. I'm just getting older and I need more flasher effects to see them better! LOL

Larger weapons effects look good. The small ones, not so good. Like the fighters. Or say the corvettes. When they fire off their smaller weapons, (mainly lasers.) The color is dull. Which, for me, on the map backgrounds, I can't see the weapon effects too much.

Hope you don't mind, but for personal use only, I've changed around the .dds files in the textures folder to brighten up the weapon effects. Still working on them, but it's coming along.

Now they look brighter!

Edit: PS. I am getting old, so not to say anything bad or is wrong with your mod. Just for me, I can't see them. So at first I wanted to ask about them. Seeing you did work on them. It's a me problem, not a mod problem. SO I'm fixing it for my old eyes. LOL

Love this mod! Works great! I have one question. Do you plan on changing the weapon effects around on the space battles? Or if you did, making them brighter?

When it comes to some weapons on the ships, you can hardly see the effects as they're not bright enough. Which looks odd with the bad *** models you made for the ships and all.

oh yeah for sure. Sorry, I wasn't asking you guys to do that. Not when you are working on other things.
I was asking about the campaign speed and if it could be modded because I'd like to see about changing it myself, and thought I would ask you because you guys are modders. Was wondering if it's going to be hard or easy.
Long story short, I use to love modding Tiberium Sun, but back in those days it was all simple xml .ini files and stuff. None of this using SDK's and all of these files and .bats being used.

I just have one more thing to bug you about. How hard would it be to mod the campaign game speed for Tiberium Wars? Because as we all know, theres no slider for campaign, which made me sad indeed.
I thought I would ask here, seeing you guys are active and know how to mod.

Hey there TalonH4wk. Thanks for the reply. I had worry for awhile that Talon was pretty much done and we might not see a 1.3, but after seeing an update and seeing that you're active on here brings a smile to my face.

As far as the Orca having unlimited ammo. Just to let you know, I don't hate it. Just a little dislike. My thought behind it was like this.
vanilla has them just having 6 missiles (wasn't it?) and that was it. Once they shoot them, time to head back and reload.
You guys gave them their chain gun which is COOL, because they should have that. It even shows them having a gun in the clips in-game.
But then the missiles were slower and unlimited.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, I wouldn't mind having them with their real load out of 6 missiles and chain gun, but seeing that they have the gun, once you shot all missiles, you could still fly around and shoot your gun. So making it where you think to yourself. Should I go ahead and send them home for more missiles (bang for their bucks) or keep them out and try to finish off the target with just the chain gun.
Other than that, I've really enjoyed all of the changes you guys did in the game.
Like the rail gun option for predator tanks. I love how its on a unit to unit deal.
Thought it does get (IMO though) too tedious when it coms to say zone troopers and having to upgrade them one unit at a time.

Shame you guys don't do skins. Like I posted, I would love the Nod Militant unit to llok like Sun old troopers. If I knew what to do, I'd try adding that to your mod just for myself. Why change your mod? Because I play it more than anyhting else! :D

Out of all of the mods I've played, this one has to stand out at the top for sure!!
I got a question about the Nod Militant unit. Can you guys turn them into the troopers from Sun? :P I saw a mod out there that did this, and also Wrath did it to. Makes them look way better.
I'm just saying. hehehe

Would make me so happy if I could take my top mods I like and was able to add all of the things from each into one.
Ok pretty much all I would do is just get the troops to look like that for Talon mod and make my orcas have to reload missiles again.
Then I would have only one mod to play and that would be Talon!

Love this mod so far. I was wondering. I see the icon for the nod militants was changed to Kane's Wrath one (using the old Sun trooper) but the units themself were not changed. Were you guys planing on changing the unit itself like Wrath did ?
I mean it's not game breaking of course, but I was wondering if icon was changed so the unit would also be changed.
