Hi, this looks great but I am puzzled. Your description above seems like a "stream of consciousness" dump. Early on you say that this D/L is only version 1.0 and you provide a long list of other mandatory downloads to bring it to version 1.10. Then later on you give installation instructions that say that this D/L is all that is needed!

So, what's going on? Both of those instructions can't be right. How do I get version 1.10 and how do I install it?

Ok, now I'm really confused. I downloaded the latest version (2.02d). The installation instructions still say to run "unit card fixer.exe" but the actual file is now "unit card fixer (outdated).exe".

Did you intend to include a new version and just forgot? Or is this simply a naming problem?

As an aside, as a general rule, I never run executables that are marked as "outdated".

I already have MMod 1.3 installed for all of my Half-Life 2 games, but I don't know what to do with this download. Where should it be installed? Does it overwrite or conflict with anything else?

Basically I asking for an installation guide for newbies.

Thanks

This looks interesting. But it would be really helpful if you gave just a little hint about:

1. How to install this mod.
2. How to run it once it is installed.

Thanks

Well, that's weird! You say that v3.62 is an update to v4.20?

Ok, I suppose, but at least you should explain your strange choice of version numbers, don't you think?

This is a follow up on my previous comment. I did a line-by-line text comparison of your version of medieval2.preference.cfg.

There are quite a few differences, but almost all seem either to be game usage preferences, differences in our hardware, or differences due to the fact that you have played the mod. The only change I could see that might affect your mod is: unit_size. I have "normal" and you have "huge".

So, is that all I have to change to make your mod work as you intend it to do?

This looks interesting, but I don't want a complete change to my medieval2.preference.cfg file. I looked at yours and it has some settings that are incorrect for my system, like the wrong screen resolution, etc.

Couldn't you just tell us what specific lines you need to change and then I can edit my file as needed?

Thanks

Never mind. I think I have figured it out. Evidently this is installed separately from EF, meaning that you have copied the EF files and added or modified some of them. I hope you have permission to do this.

Hi,

This looks great, but ...

Ok, I downloaded the file. Now what? Exactly what do I do with the contents?

Also, does this "replace" my current EF installation, i.e. is vanilla EF still playable without your mod?

Also, how do I run your mod? I know how to run EF using its included .bat file. Do I just continue to use it?

Maybe this is all obvious and if so I apologize. But a few installation instructions would certainly help for novices like me.

Anyway, thanks for all your work.

FOUND A SOLUTION!

I had set my version of Kingdoms.exe to have administrative privileges. Not sure why and it works for Stainless Steel. Anyway, I took that off and your launcher now works.

This is just another thought. It would be far better if your launcher just put up a file selection window and let the user browser to his version of Kingdoms.exe.

Hi,

Your launcher doesn't work for me. I have followed all of your installation instructions but when I run Roar of Conquest 4.0.exe I get the usual old message: "Unable to locate Kingdoms.exe. Run launcher again to get another dialog." Running it again doesn't help. Here's my situation.

My Medieval II Total War folder is F:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War. This is an external SSD. I also happen to have SS 6.4 installed in a separate folder in the mods folder and it runs just fine, i.e. I have made the Kingdoms.exe copy.

I'm guessing that all your launcher does is to run Kingdoms.exe with some command parameters. But if not, is there a fix I can make to Roar of Conquest 4.0.cfg that might work?

Sorry if this is dumb, but I don't understand something. I have installed the unofficial patch using your mod manager. Now must I run the game using the mod manager from now on or can I just use my normal Steam link?

This is embarrassing! In my rush to get things going again I made an error while fixing Settings.ini for the Wargame Mod Manager. Everything now works.

Now I have a new problem. I uninstalled/reinstalled Wargame Red Dragon to get a fresh install.I verified that no files/folders remained. Then I ran the vanilla game to establish that it works and to set options. It worked fine.

Then I installed the v1.12a patch files on my computer and ran Wargame Mod Manager. I selected the Unofficial Patch and clicked on Launch Game.

A fatal error message popped up as follows:
"Wargame Mod Manager\mods\vanilla\NDF_Win.data exists even though we established that it doesn't exist. This should never happen."

Any ideas?

Ok, good. Thanks for the clarification. It does uncompress to 95.9MB.

I think its best for me to just start over and re-install everything. Not a big problem.

Just a suggestion: you might consider changing the name of the latest download so that no one else thinks its a hot fix patch of the Unofficial Patch.

diamond - - 21 comments @ Wargame Unofficial Patch 1.12a hot patch

Ok, now I am really confused. Version 1.12 is 22.83mb. The hot patch 1.12a patch is only 7.43mb.

Are you telling me that somehow the developer managed to squeeze everything down by 2/3 in the latest version? That seems really unlikely to me. Even calling it a hot patch implies that it must be installed over the base Version 1.12.

So what's the real situation. A brand new user of this fix only needs v1.12a or he needs both 1.12 and 1.12a?

Hey! I have v1.10 installed and I just found out that you have upgraded to v1.12 with a hotfix. But I can't install v1.12 to hotfix it because you are blocking it. I need BOTH files!

Thanks

Either I need a new prescription for my eyeglasses or the graphics are really fuzzy in this mod. I think they did that deliberately for 'atmosphere' but it would drive me nuts!
