Your characters may not always be newcomers to the Zone. Some may have sponsors. They may have different backgrounds. They might not choose to come to the most hazardous place on the planet armed to the teeth with just a PM and a combat knife, wearing nothing for protection but a sturdy leather jacket and pure starry-eyed optimism. They may have different priorities.
But they're all badasses. (These videos are outdated. They're so slooooow. Link me your best. I need new ones.)

A word on difficulty. I tried really hard to balance this for different styles of play and I think I got pretty damn close. They're not necessarily difficulties but gameplay modes. Make sure to set your NPC population settings in the Options / Game menu before you start a new game. Set mutant population to 1.5.
- Rookie: for exploration and collecting. I'm working on an Easter-egg hunt type of preset for AO3 CI to go with this mode.
- Stalker (NPC population setting: 0.5/1): for casual play. Run and gun is a perfectly viable (and fun!) strategy in this mode. Get stupid. Take risks. Make sure you're recording. This is action movie stuff.
- Veteran (NPC population setting: 0.5): for serious play. This is challenging, but not frustratingly so. Think on your feet, prioritize long-term investments over short-term returns. Roll with the punches. You can get through this.
- Master (NPC population setting: 0.25): for masochism. This is for players who enjoy slowly making progress one quick-save at a time. I don't know if Story Mode can be completed by a human being in this mode. I say it can't.
Rule of thumb: if you find yourself stocking a ton of meds and never dying, you may not be playing the mode that's right for you. Same goes for if you're constantly out of meds and having to reload your last save, unless you enjoy that kind of thing. I personally play story mode on Veteran and just have freeplay fun on Stalker. Occasionally I'll play Ironman on Master without crosshairs, when I feel my butthole needs the exercise.

The download on ModDB and Mega is for version 1.0. Download the files below to update the package to v1.10, the current version of this release.

AO3 Character Creation Store (offers a ridiculously wide variety of character creation options)
AO3 content integrator (completely integrates AO3 into traders, breakable containers, missions and stashes)
Dead Air Skies and FX (fixes a crash when the weather changes to very foggy)
Mahzra's Package Meds, drugs and food patch (improves the way medkits, drugs and food work)
Kruglov patch (the Anomaly Yantar map locks Kruglov, the Ecologist mechanic immortal infinite-drum-loaded shotgun-wielding badass, into a box. This patch moves him out of that box. Mwuahahaha.)
Optional updates:
CoC performance textures (this will replace Anomaly's textures with much more performance friendly Call of Chernobyl textures - as a sidenote, I'm working on a pack that restores CotZ own textures; you'd get the layout and all the extra detail that the Anomaly maps offer, but it still has that unique CotZ look.)
Last step:
Delete gamedata\scripts\wpn_effects.script. It wasn't supposed to be there.
To ensure stability and optimal performance, the -no_staging command line option is required. Check the included shortcut for how to apply this command line option.

After the next major update of Mahzra's Package, v1.2, I will just provide hotfix updates that bundle after-release updates in one download that also works for this release. For now, I apologize for the inconvenience. Profusely.

The components that I made for this package are listed under Addons on my Profile page. Many of them have optional presets you can use to further customize your experience. If you'd like to disable the enhanced shot effects that blur your screen and pull at your crosshair when you fire a weapon, delete this file: gamedata\scripts\wpn_effects.script (it wasn't supposed to be there but I done messed up I did)

Multiple people tried to download it and the Mega.nz link appears as "Bandiwth Exceeded". Any chance you could upload to a Google Drive and share the link or a torrent file so people can share it?

What about the minimap do you miss though, dead bodies? Just wondering.

I've been thinking about how I could provide a minimap in a minimalist way. At the very least I may be able to put in a compass. It's on the to do someday list.
Also I've bound PDA to X so I just tap in and out of the map constantly. :D The GUI allows some peripheral vision, after all.

I'm trying to get through it, yeah, but I am only one man, and there are many variables. That and I'm scared of the final battle. Like, legitimately terrified. I've only done it once and that was an absolute **** show.
Also, if you like or dislike the mod, let me know why. I like to know what works and what doesn't.
Maybe it's the same but, are you allowed to get to the generators map? I remember it's bugged with AO3, that's why i stayed with COTZ weapon pack.

Hi, this looks great but I am puzzled. Your description above seems like a "stream of consciousness" dump. Early on you say that this D/L is only version 1.0 and you provide a long list of other mandatory downloads to bring it to version 1.10. Then later on you give installation instructions that say that this D/L is all that is needed!
So, what's going on? Both of those instructions can't be right. How do I get version 1.10 and how do I install it?

Let me know if anything else is unclear. Many of my addons come with optional presets whose purpose may not be immediately obvious.
Your post made me realize I could phrase things better. Considering many Stalker players' native language isn't English (that includes me), this is important. I'd like my mod to be accessible to anyone.
A simple "Mahzra, I don't understand this thing" can help me improve the game for everyone, including downloading, installing and getting the game to run to begin with.

I was saving with f5 and now get some unexpected error and now i cant use any of my saves , game try to load and exit to windows .
Could you copy the end of the crash log for me? It's in the appdata\logs folder.
The game crashing when you load any of your saves usually indicates you installed a new addon or removed one. Have you installed or removed any addons before this started happening?
For some reason the AO3 character creation store mod says it's "disabled". Is there anything else I have to do since I already placed the files I needed.
After you extract the AO3 character creation store files into the CotZ folder, you don't need to do anything else and can just a start a new game. In fact, don't run the .bat files it comes with; I need to remove those.

- Make a new shortcut to Stalker-CoTZ.exe
- Rightclick the shortcut and click Properties
- Add -no_staging to the end of the line that says Target:

Can you tell me where i can find the psi helm?
I can't go to the zones where this helm is required/needed, although i have almost full gear psi protection.
You will get it as part of the main quest; at some point a honcho at one of your affiliated factions will give it to you.
I'm currently enjoying the mod right now!
Is there any way to reduce loading times though?
Sadly, it's a trade-off. If you use DX10 or DX11, the load times suck but the game is stable. If you use DX9, the game loads ridiculously fast, but it will occasional crashes due to running out of memory.
I personally play on DX9, despite the crashes.
Yeah I'm trying DX9 right now and I usually crash whenever I'm loading to a different level. But it's just something I'll have to get used to.
Just to make sure, you are using the -no_staging command line option in your shortcut, right?

You could try reducing the texture quality, but don't go below 50% because that causes graphical artifacts and generally looks hideous. If you've already done that, maybe consider using just my gameplay overhaul without the HD models and Anomaly maps.
That will run smooth as butter, load almost instantly and hardly ever crash on high settings on DX9.
My two cents:
Dx9 crashes often (really often), graph settings at medium, Ive been using high or maximum in Cotz, SGM and COC, so is not my computer)
Dx10 or 11 stable but w looooooooong loading times, also to move between areas (I'd try to improve that 'cause breaks the inmersive experience, imo)
Check bunker in Yantar, there's a closet dooor without closet (lol) and a door shouldn't open bugged
Hud minimal, too much for me (added yr minimap addon works fine) I miss the quick buttons w the amount of resource u have, and the amount of ammo.
Despite all that, is an amazing pack, imho better even than the Cotz original (DRX RIP!), the menu screen looks a profesional game.

As for the life draining for no reason: that really shouldn't happen. I think you're probably irradiated? Job one in my playthroughs is to obtain a anti-rad artifact to counter that.
And yeah, the map bugs can be pretty hilarious. I personally kind of love that double door in the bunker. :D It's due to the Anomaly maps, and it doesn't bother me enough to look into fixing it.

The issue w t life is not for that reason, I even tried w cheat mode getting anti rad artifacts and still decreasing

I have meant to explain this a thousand times but keep forgetting.
If your health goes down and you're not suffering from bleeding or radiation or anything, take off your artifacts. You may be starving to death without realizing it. Energy recovery boosts make your stamina look higher than it is, hiding appetite. Just like stimulants in real life, actually!

I am working on it on and off, but some private issues have slowed down progress. I currently can't spend as much time and effort on the pack as I'd like. It's definitely not abandoned though.
