This project was created solely for one purpose:

To pay tribute and give Battle Realms a second life. The goal is to improve and show the true beauty of Battle Realms to all RTS players around the globe. Fix the existing (and persisting!) issues, and let the project serve as a memorial for this work of art.

Goals:

⚈ Improving the visuals: Overhauled textures, UI Redesign, updated resolutions.

⚈ Correcting the flaws: Bug fixes, game mechanics fixes, sound fixes, text fixes and a lot of other... fixes.

⚈ Restoring the old: restoring certain game features that were left unused and making them work properly.

⚈ Maintaing the balance: Rebalancing the gameplay with the focus on the vanilla setting. Restructuring the game mechanics.

⚈ Adding to it: New maps, completely overhauled BR manual.

I couldn't be happier to announce this.

Ed Del Castillo explains why it's Early Access and talks about his future plans concerning BR.

TL;DR: The original BR + WOTW with Steam Online Multiplayer and some other improvements is coming to Steam Early Access. The page is already up on Steam Store. Release date should be December 3.

Wow This is a great announcement !! I used to play this game when I was a child and few days ago I remembered it and hoped that there were a battle realms 2. Unfortunatalty not but I found this project and you know what ! This revival project is better than a second version ! I can't wait for the improved visuals :p thank you for your hard work and I hope to see this project come true soon.

Execeptional work especially a new horses texture. I see that you used terrain textures from that old Asian rts game right ? If so, are you able to modify the terrain textures to your liking ? Like completely custom textures ?

Another question, are you only using Data Editor to replace the .dat file or are do you also know how to edit programming code ?

Third question, are you planning on adding support for custom resolutions like 1920x1080 without the need of using the widescreen fix tool ?

Last question, if you have programming abilities, did you consider adding custom campaign like Zymeth's Jorney ? I made a mod like that it's called Corruption of the Lotus. It's not perfect unfortunately and just replaces Kenji's Journey Dragon Path.

It was a testing period, meaning the textures from Changpogo (Lords Of The Sea) might not make it into BR, although they look very nice.

If we are successful in making an h2o packer, we'll be able to use custom textures (meaning new .dat entries too), that was the original plan with ChangPogo's assets (to not let them go to waste).

Both .dat editing and making changes in the .exe file.

Custom resolutions will be in our upcoming 1.50s patch.

We considered a Lotus Journey, but it's a plan for a distant future, and might not be possible.

can you make Dragon's Spirit(summon 4 samurai) have more damage, like instant death when it hits the target please :) thanks btw

Dragon Fire is balanced, it was made like that on purpose. Instant death is not an option, it's not a one-button-win-the-game feature. Just combine it with other units and their abilities.

We're not going to do rebalance it.

Multimonitor support is planned for the future, but won't be around any soon. We are about to integrate the custom resolutions and FoV though.
