Content creation is where it's @
Especially if your the one making it!
I enjoy mapping, modeling, texturing,
even some coding with the Unreal Engine UE2
Google & unreal wiki knows all! :D
I still use the PLE that came with the ut2k4 ECE 2 DVD set! :D
BTW, if anyone is having trouble getting this - you can always try one of the mirrors:
Or search here:
Awesome! Downloading Now! :D
Will post progress on what this gets used for!
Descent to UDK is also on www.deviantart.com too:
Come join the fun! and see who's being creative!
Just hit the 'report download' button! and they'll get the idea! .,.
? Because some of the same dev's worked on MW ya think ?
Email? Meh! all they need to do is remove it themselves! :| 0.o
Wow! It's been awhile, and this is still the most awesome mod for the Descent game genre - but it's going to be getting some competition soon!
From Epic_Games Unreal_Engine_3 with this UDK game @ Descent.silverball-magic.com in a remake of the original Descent game done in the latest UDK version.
And while your at it, you might as well check out the fan site for it @ Descent-to-udk.deviantart.com
Enjoy! And as always: Prepare_for_Descent! :D
So, if any of these terms sound familiar then your in the right place!

Very cool indeed! looking forward to a release! :D
WOW! This is gonna be one helluva awesome mod when you guy's finally release it! :)
Any need for more beta-testers? :))
I see you currently have what? 10 testers atm?
I'd love to help, but then that would take time away from my mod!
I just hope your team can regroup and finally finish, although an update would be cool - unless of course you (two+?) are so busy trying to finish everybody else's work, you can't concentrate on your own? :|
So, how big is the mod after installation?
Best of luck on your release date! :}
Awesome maps guyz!
The desert map sections do look a bit sparse though - hence their name I guess 'desert(ed)' ! :P
But I did notice something about the angle of the slopes on some areas of the dunes, realistically sand dunes never rise faster than at a 45-50 degree angle. Gravity?
And players can't normally climb anything higher than a 45 degree incline either so.. unless of course they are equipped with special combat/climbing boots! ;p
Awesome load screens too!
Nice job on the ships! & Very cool explosion effect!
There is a special thread on the Moddb.com forums for Recruiting & Resumes.
And it gets used a lot! :|
Hey! Have some bad news on my gamebox, it's a bit more toasted than I thought, so I'll see if I can get BLaZ to cover for me in my absence - he is a qualified mapper as you have already seen. I will also try to keep you updated on my gamebox status.
Seems to be something wrong with the video atm(won't play), submitted a report so they could check and see if it's on their end.
~ My first impression was one of the loading screens for the 'Descent3: Mercenary' mission packs.
~ Very nice all around image.
~FAIL!~ The image details says it all! Mr. Hawkeye1042 was only demonstrating the COMMENT System, and how lame most of the them are!
~ Why comment on an image that doesn't deserve one?
~ Placing plant meshes too close to other solid objects detracts from the realistic look, especially if they intersect with them.
~ Graveyard? Where are the headstones! :P
~ The bloom effect is way too much, since it covers almost 50% of the FOV, but overall composition is good.
~ Copied nature meshes (ie. trees) should always be randomly placed, not right next to each other - but if they have to be, should be rotated or at least use a different texture. 'In nature, nothing is identical!'
~ A Castle always needs a weapons training area(usually the courtyard during wartime.), but normally an open area outside the walls with dirt not bricks as it provides the loosest footing - better to develop sure footed soldiers with good balance and promote awareness of their surroundings.
Dunno, with as much ripple that's in the water it doesn't really look like that is standing water does it? although with the added small waterfall, it would at least seem that it should have a bit of murkiness from so much water movement! Hard to say unless you had a soil sample! Sandy loom - not murky, clay base - murky.
I'm not real familiar with the Cry2 engine capabilities, if that's what your using - but I thought it was able to generate the needed blends for shadows from map elements across reflections on water?
As the pylons don't seem to have accurate shadows! Or even a slight break in the reflections, aside from that though - very nice work, and the rainbow effect on the waterfall! nice touch.
Well, I've sent out requests to all members of this mod - trying to get an answer to your mapper dilemma.
If you still need help, I would like to offer my assistance again.
Although I am developing a mod from the 'Descent' series of games in UE2, and UE3/UDK after any kinks in UE2 are worked out.
I have taken a few steps in gearing up to help you guys - by downloading an 'Unreal Tournament' side scrolling map to check out the 2D elements in it.
If this mod is still active & going forward, then please reply to this comment - so other members can see the response.
Very 'Neonistic' :P lol, I like it.
I'll be needing to do a lot of neon effects when I start making the city scapes for my mod. Although using the particle system can drag the engine down with too many in any one scene. Gotta place'em just right.
Clean, uncluttered & distinctive! I'd buy it! :P
So, how long did it take EA to send you a replacement disk? ? Uh Oh! I can tell by the look on your face you didn't even try to contact them about it! LOL :P
Why not? Some game companies go out of their way to "Please The Player"! But on the other hand, some go for the Headshot!
That said, it never hurts to try - well almost never! :P
The toon material shader your using looks great, it's likely to appeal to a younger crowd - but hey, that's what most games are all about anyway! Having fun.
Although I wouldn't doubt it if a lot of players that might be bored or scared of TF2, will love this! :P
Could have just used one of the banner type fonts on the net, applied the highlighter style which you did - then just outlined it with a glow like you did - very nice! :P
Ah yes! cartoon classics at there best, I like it - simple yet elegant design.
Keep up the good work!
Where are the maps for the UT2k4 version? Since I see the UT3 version has separate map downloads.
