All I know is they said they'd invade my country and put all of our necks through the blade of a sabre if we don't convert to their religion, because it was "the land of their ancestors" (ancestors who by the way took this land from my own ancestors), as if they had the slightest chance... This shows just how deluded these murderers are. But anyway before they set foot on Turkey I suppose NATO would've bombed the hell out of them, and Saudi Arabia may not even need NATO's help (which I think they'd get anyway if the situation calls for it).

In my opinion, the real threat here for NATO and Saudi Arabia is basically terrorist bombings, once ISIS realizes there's no way they can even dream about occupying NATO land.

The concerning thing is a possible chemical attack. They're gaining money and resources and it won't take long for them to reach that capability.

They're trying to establish a new caliphate but for the MAJORITY of Muslims, they're widely condemned for their overall approach to it and their methods in attempting to establish one. However if they manage to do so then it won't last very long as it would be a state and would be treated as a state in war time, by flattening the ever unholy hell out of their territory.

Saudi Arabia and Turkey are very threatened as the IS can, and will, attack any nation they believe is an ally to the "corrupt, imperialistic, infidels of the west." War is inevitable for both countries; either they directly aid the Iraqi army and Peshmerga mustering their armies and provide ground support or wait until the IS comes to their borders and impose their backward version of the Koran. Either way, it is a problem that can't be ignored.

A ground and air invasion by the NATO countries that say they will do so is an option but it'll backfire badly. It will give the IS what they want and that is a basis to wage a "holy war" against who and what they declare to be an infidel, apostate, and any other wonderfully older than dirt insult they dig from the blood stained sand.

So far, the safer option in this quagmire is for NATO to provide air support for the Iraqi and Kurdish armies and provide assistance for the Iraqi air force as well as conduct counter-insurgent operations to disrupt their military. While at the same time, the nations of the Arab League that volunteer to fight the IS; conduct ground operations against the IS as a majority of them are Sunni and so will have a better time convincing the local Sunni tribes in IS territory to fight against them. It isn't the best solution but right now it sounds like the good enough one. If anyone has a better strategy on how to destroy the IS, THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION, then offer it forward for everyone to read.

Can they really establish a new caliphate?
How threatened are Turkey and Saudi Arabia?
Will NATO invade them if they manage to succeed?

Should Iraq even continue to exist?
