NATO's been a long standing alliance of pretty much every western power aside from a few, all aligned together in defense of whatever "other" may attack them. With Russia's recent and not-so-discreet invasion of Ukraine along with the wanabe caliphate that sprouted recently, there has been a lot of talk of potential new members and friends of NATO on the edge of the 'civilized' world.
What do you think will become of NATO and how may its mission change?
NATO will return back into its conventional roots.
Which is a kind of a evil thing.. why? Too much to write in here.
I reckon we'll see new members and associate states come along pretty soon. As for its mission? It'll stay the same. Defence against whatever 'other' attacks them. What will change is who that other is. Currently that 'other' is potentially Russia.
I do think, however, that NATO will become pretty Eurocentric again.
I'd like to welcome everyone to the idea that we're all on a spherical-ish object. Its all west, east, north and south if you keep going that way.
