Galactic Civilizations III is a 4X space strategy game set in the 23rd century. Humans and aliens compete against each other for domination of our galaxy.
Players begin with only their home planet and must research new technologies, explore the galaxy, and colonize new worlds. All the while, players engage in diplomatic intrigue with other races and will likely be drawn into (or start) wars of both survival and expansion.
The gameplay of Galactic Civilizations has evolved over the years, but we at Stardock have always prided ourselves on making conquest only one of several entertaining routes to victory. In Galactic Civilizations II, for example, players can wage multi-decade cold wars for the hearts and minds of neutral planets – or even expand their culture’s reach to the point that each others’ colonies are the soft-power battleground. Players can conquer the galaxy without ever firing a shot through a combination of shrewd diplomacy and ever-expanding cultural influence.
Hi All,
John Grammaticus here from Phoenix Studios bringing you a quick update on Star Trek Civilizations.
Firstly i'd like to confirm that we have 3 factions implemented: Romulan Star Empire, Klingon Empire and United Federation of Players. All 3 factions include a full compliment of ships and we are currently designing Starbases to go along with these, some of which can be seen in the images on this site.
Progress is also now underway to develop an Insane size Galaxy Map based on Star Trek Star Charts pulling information from a range of sources to make it as accurate to canon as possible. (Images to follow).
For all you guys who are testing the Alpha version, if you can provide any feedback as to how well it is running and any issues that you come across, this will aid us greatly in ensuring that the mod is up to the highest standard possible.
Thanks,
John Grammaticus

Is modding restricted to just cosmetic because I'd like to see what the community could do when they mess around with the game files. For instance adding cool events, maybe a monster race that shows up to reck havoc in the galaxy and all the races unite to fight it. Perhaps (for those who would like it) a new battle system because honestly this one is just boring right now. Maybe adding new technologies, resources, changes to the map. All this would be nice and I'd like to see that.
It depends what you're looking to do. Some stuff is relatively open; other stuff is limited in the Schema. Ask on the SD website about specific bits.
perfect for Star Trek
I can't wait to see what the modding community has in store for this game. *cough* star destroyers *cough*
thats pretty much what I want
Anyone thinking about modding this?
