If you haven't heard yet, Microsoft will be reviving Age of Empires 1.
I've worked on this project for over 2 and a half years now, although I've taken several long lengths of time off, so it hasn't been wholly continuous. While it's been fun, I feel there isn't any reason to continue working on this. Age of Empires: Definitive Edition will be launched and a fan project can not compete with that.
I was planning on leaving this mod after the Assyrian and Babylonian building sets were done, but two other modders joined me that kept me motivated, Sylwester and Andrew. Sylwester has made nearly all of the units, aside from the few that I have made, and Andrew worked on the Roman buildings. I've been very gracious to have them devote their time to this mod. Unfortunately Andrew stopped working on the project to pursue work on other games, and the Roman buildings will not be in the mod. Others offered to join the team, but did not offer any help, except for some ideas that would have taken hours upon hours of work to redo existing game mechanics.
This mod has lacked support and playtesters, and a general lack of playerbase.
The project will be left with all the bugs, and placeholder assets that are in it. I may come back and make some changes that take a small amount of time to just make it playable as it is, but right now the version uploaded will have some problems. Things that will not be completed are: Asian and Roman buildings, Ruins and artifacts on maps and having them have an in game effect, Mesopotamian and Roman map loading images, Asian and Greek maps, final game balancing, and many other things that I had planned.
