Mods could also make the game shittier depending on what you like.

It depends in how you mod that game, could be worse or could be better..

The point is, mod support is a good thing, even if not all mods are good. There are always *some* good mods, and the bad ones don't hurt anything, so...Mods are good :)

I search for mods for games I own, but if I see a great looking mod for a game I don't own, I usually look into that game and sometimes even get it for the mod(s).

I see some games with great mods, but some developers release a new patch to stop Mod Support. I mean, wth?

That's why Mods are optional, you don't HAVE to download them..

I don't know why you got so many negative points. Only games from companies can be ****? Of course not. Mods by users can be **** too.

Nah they say " wait if we put mod support, the users mods are going to overshadow the GAME! "
And its true, look at HL2 and BF2 w/ PR+FH2+NaW the list continues.

I normally would have passed mount and blade by and not thought about a purchase, but I did see a star wars mod for this game called Conquest, the mod looked so well made and something I would like to try that I purchased Mount and Blade to try this mod, and it was awesome, but the game was good enough to purchase the next two, My point is they got 3 sales out of me that normally they would not because they allowed mods. But the game was good enough that some wonderful modders wanted to spend the time to make a great mod in the first place.

For me it's kind of a combination of the three options. Sometimes I search for mods for games I own, of course. But I found most of the epic mods I've played so far through frontpage news, mods I otherwise probably wouldn't have noticed. Some of these frontpage mods made me buy a game only to play the mod, but I didn't exactly search for those mods.

I mostly search for mods, just for fun, sometimes I find something interesting and DL it.
Other times, I search for mods specifically for the games I have.

I only really get into a game for the modding (biggest draw). So if I happen upon a mod I like the look of or its an interesting concept I will track it. Its more likely to get me to buy the game that way then browsing a shop or adverts. Mods are often more quirky and deep than the 'cash for features' commercial approach.
Here's an idea! Why don't the 'pros' focus on the engines and tools and let the content be made by the 'community'. Thats my approach anyway, might that save time, money and hassle :-)

A mix of all 3, but mostly #2.
Sometimes though, I like to do #1 on the list here, sometimes it might influence my next game purchase.

I browse Moddb and other mod sites a whole lot, I've bought a couple of games because I see mods that I quite fancy and if the mod has peaked my interest that much then the developer of the game (and mod in some cases) definitely deserve money for their hard work.

I don't search. If I see something interesting on the main page, I'll check it out. If the game that's modded is installed, I'll give it a try, otherwise I'll 'watch' it just to see where it goes/try it later.
