(480 votes)I don't really search, but if I see an interesting mod i'll try it out
I search for anything - sometimes a good mod can make me buy the game :D
So true! Dumb are the Game Developers that do not give mod support!
Agreed, mods can only improve the game!
I normally would have passed mount and blade by and not thought about a purchase, but I did see a star wars mod for this game called Conquest, the mod looked so well made and something I would like to try that I purchased Mount and Blade to try this mod, and it was awesome, but the game was good enough to purchase the next two, My point is they got 3 sales out of me that normally they would not because they allowed mods. But the game was good enough that some wonderful modders wanted to spend the time to make a great mod in the first place.
For me it's kind of a combination of the three options. Sometimes I search for mods for games I own, of course. But I found most of the epic mods I've played so far through frontpage news, mods I otherwise probably wouldn't have noticed. Some of these frontpage mods made me buy a game only to play the mod, but I didn't exactly search for those mods.
Same here, bro.
I hardly ever search but when i do i ONLY search for Half-Life 1&2 mods
exactly :D
I usually see intresting stuff on moddb homepage. So I go on and try it out if i own the game.
I mostly search for mods, just for fun, sometimes I find something interesting and DL it.
Other times, I search for mods specifically for the games I have.
I used to search for mods, but when the mods i would be looking for got exhausted i only check out the mods that seem interesting on the frontpage
i search for mods for the games i allready have but sometimes i search for just a game because im bored but ya every game needs mods support because that wil give best player experience since they can mod and play and mods are made just to enjoy nothing else
Mostly i search for mods for games i own, but i also check out which mods has gotten the most attention.
I only really get into a game for the modding (biggest draw). So if I happen upon a mod I like the look of or its an interesting concept I will track it. Its more likely to get me to buy the game that way then browsing a shop or adverts. Mods are often more quirky and deep than the 'cash for features' commercial approach.
Here's an idea! Why don't the 'pros' focus on the engines and tools and let the content be made by the 'community'. Thats my approach anyway, might that save time, money and hassle :-)
Mods for BF2 have sometimes proven to be outstanding :D
the answer is quite obvious
A mix of all 3, but mostly #2.
Sometimes though, I like to do #1 on the list here, sometimes it might influence my next game purchase.
I tend to, if I search, I search for mods that turns whatever game into what I searched for.
I usually search for mods for games I own, but once in a while they're be a mod or game on the front page that'll get my attention. :)
Mostly I search for the games I won... But I always look something from other game... This sometimes even motivate me to buy a new game...
Always search for mods for HL2 and episodes. I just love seeing what people can do with those versions of Source.
I browse Moddb and other mod sites a whole lot, I've bought a couple of games because I see mods that I quite fancy and if the mod has peaked my interest that much then the developer of the game (and mod in some cases) definitely deserve money for their hard work.
I don't search. If I see something interesting on the main page, I'll check it out. If the game that's modded is installed, I'll give it a try, otherwise I'll 'watch' it just to see where it goes/try it later.
Mostly it's about a new gameplay experience. Few mods to my game can brighten my days rather the usual.
After reading this poll it reminded me that I have barely gotten any mods of moddb, :I
I just have to stop my own mods, in order to play some one else's. I seem to have a busy factor, but if I get passed that I usually enjoy a good mod.
recent updates realy,,
i have bought quite few games because of the mods they had. I bought bf2 because of project reality... can't stand bf2 but PR is amazing!
