Hello dear community,
As most of you already know, Stargate is finally coming back to the big screen!
Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin will be working together on a new film which will reboot the franchise and expand into a trilogy.
What do you think about this? Is a restart in terms of standalone films the best for the franchise, or do you think they should have revived the series? Let us know in the comments below! :)
While the work on these film hasn't even started yet we continue to support the franchise to keep it alive.
Today we take a huge step forward on this quest as we release the Tunngle feature for our Mod launcher which will make us independent from the GameSpy service which will go offline in the next few days. When this has happened the only way to play multiplayer matches will be through the Tunngle service.
The launcher will update itself the next time you start it. If you haven't installed the launcher yet you can get it here: Ow.ly
To play matches via Tunngle you will need an account which you can get here for free: Ow.ly
We would also like to share a tool with you that was made by .Pox from the Thrawn's Revenge modding team. This program fixes corrupted saved games caused by FoC's unit selection bug.
If you ever experienced crashes or freezing after playing a GC for a long time, this could possibly fix your issues. You can find the download here: Ow.ly
Speaking of GCs... We are still working hard on them but sadly it is still a bit too early to show you more details. We would love to speed up development but for that we would need more dedicated people working on the project.
If you are willing to help us you will find job offers in the next news.
Until next time!
Sincerely yours,
I just hope they won't pull a J.J Abrams and lensflare the whole thing. I believe there was also a script (or a book I can't really remember) of what happened after Atlantis returned to Earth. Maybe they can make the movie trilogy about this(?)
it was a book. the script wasn't really finished.
I wish they'd kept to the original plan of just doing some more Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis films. Overall, I'd rather see a new tv series (or three!) than another reboot.
Series>Movie
My opinion tho :)
Well, since I am quiete pleased with the idea of producing 3 new films there is one more thing I would like to see before: A movie length episode for Destiniy to give the series at least an ending :) Cheers
Whaaaat? A reboot? It's only been twenty years for cryin out loud!
Well, a reboot with original crew would be nice, i would love to see SG-1 and Atlantis crew once again in a new Stargate movie, but i would prefer new episodes of SG-1, Atlantis and Universe, with the original crew, if possible.
No chance for the old crew, since the new movies are not part of the current Stargate Lore; that's what I heard
I will disappoint you, but SG-1, Atlantis and Universe will be ignored, no Ancients, no Milky Way stargate network, not Carter and Teal'c, no Sheppard and many others, no Asgards, no Goa'ulds, no many other thing. Just because Roland Emmerich does not recognize any things was created after movie, just because that wasn't created like he want. Sad but true...
I want them to carry on with Universe, personally, as I'm pretty sure it was profitable by the end.
I think a reboot will kill it to be honest its not going to be the Stargate we all know and love
Glad overall Stargate is coming back, but I'm still upset that they didn't just continue where Universe left off :(
I would prefer to see the series continued, or to finally see a proper ending of Stargate Atlantis in a movie. If they make this reboot, what happens to the series that ran for so long? They would not be recognized anymore. Roland Emmerich had the chance to make his movies long ago. Now he will only kill the series this way or it will backfire.
Me too guys, I'd prefer SGU or SGA to get continued, or a entirely new spinoff series. But I'll take the 3 Movies of master Emmerich too and will enjoy them haha
Emirich, will screw stargate, he will ignore everything from the shows, because the people involved made it better than his film.
