Post news Report RSS Second star to the right!

Hello Folks, here comes a bitter sweet update today but hopefully not so sorrowful that life does not make you smile as we look to what the future holds for as one ship one crew decommissions another leaps into action to take its place...

Posted by on

... its been a long journey with armada 3 over the years one i look back on with utmost joy but all good things come to an end and no were not talking about Armada 3! There is a brilliant team of developers at work pushing the mod onwards, no this time i talk about myself as a developer and my fellow golden oldie Mr Dukut!

A shot of the enterprise on her final goodbye to the crew of the Excelsior and Captain Sulu.

Myself and Gul Dukut have been working on Armada since pre 0.95 and many years of toil and strife we believe and feel have brought about a tremendous mod, well game really! and the final frontier looks to be yet another ground breaking moment for 2016. You've graced us with a mod of the year award as well so we thank you for that recognition and support, we also thank you for saying hello to us at Star Trek London too!

Myself and Gul have been collaborating for some time on many videos for his gulgaming channel and moving forward we hope to continue that work, we love to cover sins modding in general and I know Gul has many plans to continue his coverage of this mod as it continues onwards.

Ambarenya will be taking over my spot as Deputy Dev Team Leader so look to him for continuing news posts and updates in regards to the mod which could not be in better hands.

For those wondering the team now looks as follows:

Maxloef - Lead Developer
Ambarenya - Deputy Lead Developer
Draconis - Balance Team Lead
KillaBC - Artwork Renderer
OrionSlaver - Balance and Coding
Zurme - Balance and Coding
Cailean - Map Design and GalaxyForge
SFC3 - Wiki Developer

So all that's left to say from myself and Gul is:

Live Long and Prosper

I can understand, hardly anything more can by done with mod and engine is ancient and limiting
Will you work or plan to mod something else?

Bane I'm sad to see you go! Thanks so much for all the help last year when my computer wasn't running the mod. I wouldn't have been able to play it without you thanks again for the hard work!

And here you got my hopes up to see a Constitution Refit finally show itself in the Lost Years when I logged on and saw that title in my updates...I am saddened.

Good luck to your future endeavors whatever they may be.

You don't know how happy that makes me, the Connie refit is quite literally my favorite ship in all of Trek.

Just as long as it's not relegated to a scout role like in the SoA mod...that's just demeaning.

Take care Bane & Gul. Your work involved in this mod was outstanding.. Your loss will be significant for the team. But what ever and why ever you decided it's time to move on: My best wishes still go to both of you and good luck. See you around the universe.

Such a shame to see two talented developers such as Bane and Gul, leave such an amazing team.

Good luck to both of you moving forward, and thank you for working on such an incredible game, for all these years!

The SOASE modding community has lost two of it's finest but you are moving onto greener pastures, I'm sure. Thank you for the time, effort, and dedication that you have so freely given to us. Good luck in your future endeavors, both of you. I'm not actually a huge Star Trek fan except for this mod, but I feel this is appropriate for the occasion.

Live Long, And Prosper.

Well I won't deny that this makes me sad. You're both great guys and you and the rest of the team have been amazing, one of the best mod teams that I know of that's for sure.

But having seen the stuff you've done I have full confidence in both your abilities to continue being awesome and creative!

It's also good to know that the team is being left in safe and capable hands. (except Max he clearly can't be trusted :P)

I wish you both luck! And as you said, remember to Live Long and Prosper.

Did you guys pull out in fear of possible Anaxar litigation?

Nah, this has nothing to do with Axanar. It does, however, have everything to do with the time Max chained them to a desk in a dark room and refused to feed them until until certain amounts of progress were made, beating them whenever the mod build minidumped. He is a harsh taskmaster...

Seriously though, Bane and Gul Dukat have been significant parts of the Armada III team for three years now. There comes a time when it feels right to clock out and put your feet up.

Best wishes to you both. Thank you for helping to bring one the best mods to Sins and create arguably one of the best Star Trek themed games in our recent history. This mod is different than so many others due to the dedication and effort on the part of the whole modding team and it shows. You are the golden standard of making mods. I look forward to see what your talents can and will create next. Peace and long life!
