Today, just 6 weeks after releasing the game, Tripwire released the Software Development Kit (SDK) for Red Orchestra. The Beta version is now available for free download through the Tools section of Steam. The SDK comes as one integrated toolset, based on the well-known UnrealED, updated and upgraded specifically for Red Orchestra by Tripwire Interactive. It also includes the full manual, plus tutorial maps for those just getting started on mapping and modding, as well as full Actor descriptions for the more experienced. Create your own custom levels, weapons, vehicles, or even create your own custom total conversion mod! The SDK is compatible with all the major 3d modelling and animation programs including 3DSmax, Maya, and Softimage, to make it as simple as possible to create your own content.
The SDK includes:
- Full Unrealscript source code for the game and code compilation tools (create your own mini-mutators all the way up to total conversion mods).
- All content used in the creation of the game including all textures and models for use in custom maps.
- ROEd level editor which can be used to make custom levels, and to import custom textures, models, animations, and sound effects.
“Modding” features built into the engine already:
- HTTP redirection, which allows players to download custom maps quickly while playing on a server – no need to search out and download custom maps
- Support for mini mutators which can be used to modify gameplay
- Support for total conversion mods with built in mod architecture
Go build something cool!
Now we need Koitos 1944 back on!
Sounds good. Might consider buying it now...
It says 2GB, but that's counting RO itself and the uncompressed figure. You'll download 594MB.
Kick ***. :D
