HD video demoing new features including more detailed blood effects (cuts, stabs, drips), blood texture has anti-aliasing and mipmapping, can exit back to main menu to load different levels, and more!

Here is the latest in our new weekly Overgrowth alpha format! David himself took some time to illustrate the traditional changelog in video form.

Don't forget that you can help support us, try out our weekly alphas (such as the one in the video), and chat with other preorderers in the Secret Preorder Forum by preordering Overgrowth.

Be sure to watch it in HD!

The features highlighted in the above video are as follows (among some extra ones thrown in for good measure):

- Can exit back to main menu to load different levels
- Retry/continue menu after victory
- More detailed blood effects (cuts, stabs, drips)
- Blood texture has anti-aliasing and mipmapping
- Config setting to print key presses
- Fixed deleting attached characters and weapons
- Fixed multiple characters grabbing the same weapon
- Held weapons don't sparkle

true! +1 for you two - i ask myself why no other game came up with some similar effects till now, the stab blood effect (whole) looks so real its almost creepy :D

Ok, but I rather have a good game without heavily engineered blood effects instead. Am I the only one who wants to see progress on the actual game instead (which is pretty much nonexistent now)?

Feature creep is kicking in perhaps?

I think the blood system was good enough before, yes it's even better now. It wouldn't hurt anyone if they actually made some progress on the game itself before keep going over the eye candy stuff. (again)

You guys keep caps locking "this game is amazing" but there is, in fact, no actual game. At the moment "Overgrowth" is nothing more than an elaborate engine tech demo.

They should post these updates on the "phoenix engine" page instead, imho.

I second that. All we ever saw was the core gameplay : fighting. No additional gameplay elements, no story elements...nothing really. I preordered the game and its great!! But I really would prefer it not ending up being tekken with rabbits on generated terrains.

They ARE working on the rest of the game, they just aren't showing it.

They said before they will not spoil the story, so while we just get to taste the gameplay now, we'll see the full game when it actually gets released.

not at all sure wth u are talking about? theyre working on the combat, THE COMBAT IS BASICLY THE GAME. it is a fighting game = combat HAS to be good, and they ARE working on map assets and putting that together. just shut up, lay back and watch the flipping progress.

repeated reiterating over existing features is hardly something I call "flipping" progress. It's progress yes, now on to new things please.

Like I said most of the so called "progress" is about the phoenix engine and the stuff it can do differently now then a few weeks ago.

BTW, I already gave them my money so they can do what they want. Other developers have less fans for more game. I'll see you on the next "flipping" progress report.

they only had one or two effects for blood before. I think They just had a slash that would drip down and so now stabbing weapons work like the spear. I know I plan on preordering when they have a little more combat in including the weapons. This game is a huge game being taken on by few people and so progress to the full game is going slow, thats why its great they have the editor so you can make your own fun like arma. you guys have my money just not at this time!

This will be a remarkable technical feat and a fantastic game, I remember watching this game in it's early stages of pure skeletal meshes and displacement maps, now I want to preorder more than ever.

Did not look at rabbits the same way after seeing watership down as a kid. To this day, the very mention of the movie makes me twitch.

Oh my, more blood. You know, for those of us squeamish about the stuff, you could add different colored or rainbow colored blood. At least faces aren't exploding on me when I try to watch one of these. (a freind reccommended a fallout trailer, didn't get past 25 secs of exploding body parts)

I still say the blood should not look so shiny. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't blood-soaked fur look a bit more dark and non-reflective?

Has anyone seen that one episode of "The Venture Bros." where Brock Sampson is "preying on the enemies fear" by running around naked covered in the enemies blood? I have a feeling there are going to be moments like that in this game. (lol)

This game is going to be amazing with such in debth wounds... I can imagine I won't get bored by simply fighting over and over.. I didn't in GTA IV where I just like to hit peds and see them fall since years :) I still do it, this if it'll be modable it's going to be amaazzing! Screw the haters
