Here we are again with some new highlights of our progress. The month has been busy and successful again, so we have got plenty of stuff to show. One big achievement is the successful implementation of custom infantry models. So, finally we are able to import our US-Soldier, including all the necessary equipment. You may not know how much effort Darkbladecr has put into this (animation, rigging, etc.), but let me tell you that this is nothing less than another milestone in our development! At this point we also want to thank Michael Taylor (mike@cryrid.com) for providing us with the US Soldier model. Some of the infantry skins are still to be done, but we don't want to leave you without at least a first impression of it. Just take a look at the crew of the M106A3 Mortar Tank. Except the bare head, the whole model is new, with proper body armor, helmet, communication, etc. This enables us to create infantry as we need it, completely without model mixing, which harms performance.

Now you say, "M106A3 Mortar Tank? Did i see that ingame already?". No you didn't, it's one more vehicle that has been properly imported and animated in the meanwhile. The same counts for the Type 59d Main Battle Tank, the Type 89 Tank Destroyer and the ZBD2000. They are all completely functional ingame by now. Here are some more pictures of them in action.

Nice update!
Congratulations to the milestone achievment!

though I have to ask heretically; Are those vehicle models in realistic scale? Because, seeing the soldier manning the Stryker MG, I feel that they are kinda small, as compared to a Real Life Stryker.

Also note, the ZBD-2000 AFV is actually bigger and longer than the ZTZ-99 tank in real life. I wonder if those things would be implemented in the mod or not.

Thx.

We try to keep the relative scaling of vehicles as close to reality as possible. However, it is very difficult to get quantitative informations about chinese military equipment.
So, for most of them we are restricted to comparisons of vehicle size, next to human soldiers to be able to get an approximate size.
US vehicles however should be scaled correctly, cause those details are easy to find in the internet.

I uploaded some pics about the size relation of the ZBD2000 to other vehicles.

this pic is a pretty good overview of the size, in relation to the ZTZ99 (second vehicle), ZTZ96 (third vehicle) and the ZBD2000 AFV (4th vehicle).

Scale modeling is also a good source: Here, I was very suprised, seeing that a light IFV is larger than the Abrams.

Hope these images are helping, but I already see that the models of both sides are as truthful as possible, so all is alright from my side.

good work anyway.

oh **** that thing is huge!!! hmmm... our ZTZ99 and M1A2 will be the same/bigger sizes to emphasis importance. Since to be honest a massive ZBD would just look a tiny bit odd, I mean even in real life it is a bit odd. =/

Technically ZBD is more of a mini gun boat that is capable of crossing 30 miles of open ocean than an regular IFV like the Bradly, thus explaining its bigger size.

Yep, nothing wrong with the scale as it is now, since it indeed is odd to have a armour in the IFV-role being bigger than the massive Abrams.

And yes, gamer_1001 is right. The ZBD-2000/ZTS-04, as it is officially called now by the PLA, is more a gun boat and armed amphibious landing ship, designed for coastal invasions and mainly deployed by the PLA Marine Corps in the South China Sea and the PLA 124th Amphibious Mechanized Infantry Division of the 42th Group Army, stationed in the swampy lands of Southern China.
The ZTS-04 is not commonly used as an IFV in this regard, but of course this shouldnt play any role in a full scale invasion of the chinese mainland, as depicted in this mod.

Humm, so I guess we will be seeing a lot of maps covered with swamps and rice paddies to make this vehicle really shine. It will be funny to see a ZBD dancing around a M1 Abram stuck in swamps during the game.
