A new media update from hl2wars showing a short gameplay video. The video is showing some of the basebuilding and defending against Antlions. The next release will again be single-player and will require Half-Life 2: episode two. Most of the new features are done and just need to be improved and tweaked.

Feature list

  • Two new maps
  • Switched to new OB engine
  • Basebuilding
  • Improved ai
  • Several other things...

As you can see, the building models are placeholders (a trainmodel). We are still looking for a modeller. We are also in need for voice actors( for units sounds when getting an order). If you are interested, visit our forum: hl2wars forum

Sweet! Can't wait!

btw theres a whole folder in the half life 2 directory that has one word sound files used by the pc to put combine speech together. theres stuff like "Roger" and "need back up" and stuff. Also theres a folder with rebel sounds in it too.

why not just use them insted of getting voice actors?

Looks good, nice work. I guess the train carts act as placeholders for buildings atm., but i felt that the way 'forward baracks' works in 'Company of Heroes' (garrison an empty building, and ugrade it to a barack), might work pretty nice with the theme of the HL2 universe. Still, i haven't got a clue if it would fit to the game design.

The developement will be very interesting, good luck! :)

I would like to see headcrabs/zombies as a potential playable or at least fightable "faction". They would be simplistic, but you could direct huge swarms of them towards a target for rampages, spend a little more and you get the other varieties- fast, poison, zombines... you could get reinforcements by capturing for example a place where zombies spill out of (like the mouth of a tunnel), or by calling down headcrab cannisters, the occupants of which would seek out and zombify your opponents.

Headcrab cannisters could also be a combine weapon, though of course you'd use it differently than if you were playing zombies. Where zombie players would use it as a means of reinforcements, combine players would simply use it to soften up rebel targets (by making them zombies.)

If this were a multiplayer game it'd have the effect of knocking down the rebel player's forces at the cost of adding reinforcements to the zombie player- so you'd have to consider the risk versus reward.
