Faction Description
We have been betrayed! Violated! Centuries of struggle and decades of careful diplomacy brought our nation to life, and the Germans seek to take that away from us! The Kaiser claims he wishes only to use our lands to attack France, and requests we stand aside like submissive sheep as they march across our lands. But to that the Belgian people say never! So long as a Belgian soldier lives, the German violation will not go unpunished. Our forts are strong, our rivers and floodplains are defensible, and our soldiers are unshakable. With His Majesty, King Albert at our front, and our British and French allies at our backs, Belgium will emerge victorious, or die fighting!
Amazing work as always
Beautiful work, but it still always confuses me, by "Old", do you mean they are out dated or are they veterans?
Old style uniforms. Before helmets and uniform color change.
Why don't change it to "early"? I think it fits so much better.
The early and Late Switches are in the empire total war Data, I don't think the Modders can switch it to the Napoleon Total War Data.
Stunning, you’ve truly brought them to life here. Love the old uniforms and kit especially!
Looks phenomenal!
Keep up the great work! Bought Napoleon just for this mod!
Wow, it certainly seems like it didn't take too long to do Belgium, unless I am mistaken. That sure is fine work.
And why are there two general's staff for two eras? Did they really make the general's uniforms so drab and bland? The early war general looks fresh and has drip, but the mid-war general has no style. Okay, I am not exactly being serious, but still: most other nations (I presume) did not change their generals' uniforms when that of their troops changed.
Yes, they did. Why would you change everyone's uniform in the army but the General's?
Belgium was one of the two longest faction to make, after France. Work started in August of last year.
Oh, I thought you did one nation at a time.
The last faction I worked on before Belgium was the USA, and I finished them in July last year. There is some minimal parallel modding work, but nothing as major as a whole faction. Belgium was particularly time-consuming.
So I guess working on one nation at a time gets boring, so you switch between working on them?
So 7 months of work for one faction? So we should probably expect Spain and Greece to take 4+ months each as well, right? Especially considering how different Greek early war uniforms often were.
Also - am I right in assuming that the fact Belgian uniforms largely mimicked the French cut down the time you needed to complete them? What made the Belgian uniforms so time consuming, then? The headgear? The textures?
No, there was little that was reused from the French appart from texture edits. The similarities are superficial.
The Belgians required two new belt equipment models, five new hats and a new torso model. It's also one of the two factions with the most texture variety (some of the textures didn't make it in the mod as there was no space left on the atlas).
Are the Greeks next?
It will be them or Spain. My 6th sense suggests Spain but I have no proof other than gut instinct on that.
Yes I Know about that too, I Don't know about you but I don't think they should waste there time making an entire unit roster for Spain which is a country that was completely neutral during the entire war and also because of this:
Moddb.com
Makes no sense to me, even though BDIZZLE356 said at some post that it was going to be a generic faction so maybe they will only use already existing uniforms from other nations instead of making an entirely new unit roster
Personally I disagree. Spain was neutral but this is total war not real history. I don't want a totally historical playthrough, I want to change history. Spain would have been a significant force on either side and had reasons to intervene on each side. In game its the only nation outside the major ones that have multiple territories and would be fun to play for people like myself. I can see myself playing them at least three times on the Allies, Central Powers and as an independent third force.
I agree with your disagreement.
Spain and Italy are the 2 big "what ifs" of WW1 and offer tons of potential for interesting a-historical play-throughs.
"Spain would have been a significant force on either side and had reasons to intervene on each side"? you obviously know nothing about Spain during this time period and neither does BDIZZLE356
if you want to change history for fun then fine its a videogame
Once you take control of a faction, Spain included, you can make them as powerful as you want especially if you can build up your forces before entering the war.
AI controlled Spain on the other is weak and would lose badly to any other major faction if they entered the war. So they are historically accurate.
In TGW6, will the general's unit also get the later uniforms or will the new-style uniforms be limited to custom battles?
Generals get the new uniform by default. The old uniform are available to Generals already on the map at the start of the campaign, or in custom battles. There's no other way to change the uniform during a campaign.
Awesome (and awesome work on the uniforms, as usual)!
I assume this'll be true for all factions?
I noticed I made a few typos when reading the descriptions XP If you'd like, I can retype the Guides description and send it back to you shortly.
Ok cool. I also found some units I forgot to send you that still need descriptions.
Cool, send them on over
These all look fantastic! Can't wait for version 6 :D
since i am myself a belgian i must say , awesome ; i cant wait until the next update
Fantastic work! Though I'd like to point out one spelling error: one of Albert's Character Traits reads "Competant" though it should be "Competent".
Hello! Is there New uniform for Spain? or Denmark, Norway?
Spain is getting a overhaul after Greece. I believe Norway and Denmark are using generic uniforms for now.
Great Work! Is there New uniform for Spain? or Denmark, Norway?
Lang leve de koning
en lang leve België
Longue vie au roi
et longue vie à la Belgique
Es lebe der König
und es lebe Belgien
Will there be Albert I as a general ? I don't know if that is possible but it'd be nice as he was on the frontline as well
