Hello! This is Kizzycocoa, voluntary and sole maintainer of this Mod/IndieDB page for Minecraft.

Last year, we had the Minecraft Cake Campaign for the Indie Game of the Year awards. It is strange to think it has been one whole year since then, and one whole year added to Minecraft development.

Towards the end of the campaign, due to certain developments, I had to message Mojang at least three times a day to get through to them, with rare spots of average communication.

This was natural, as Mojang were, and still are, busy. However, due to me attempting my best to tell them crucial updates, the air grew frosty between Mojang and myself, leading to a temporary demotion on the Minecraft Wiki. Being the great place they are, they re-promoted me after the dust had settled.

I for one do not wish to make a repeat of this fiasco. And while the Cake Campaign was successful, it came with it's inevitable price due to lack of communication, which I could not, and cannot hope to control in future.

Therefore, despite how much I'd love to do another campaign to win the other awards not achieved (potentially would have been potatoes, so to jump on the Portal meme train once more (Yes, I only asked for cake due to Portal - sue me!)), no such recurring campaigns will be made this year. Games can't win twice in a row regardless of this.

I do however encourage you to vote for Minecraft, if only to fill in the blanks of Best Multiplayer Indie and Best Original Art!

Enjoy the competition!

argh. I keep trying to remember the post privately button to post it quicker.

oh well. it'll get out eventually.

again, I'm really sorry about the lack of a campaign. I really cannot go through that stress once again. still, do enjoy the awards. I'm sure the ModDB people will put on a great show, just like last time! ^^

backstory is simple.

last year, ModDB swapped videos accidentally, and I saw the Indie of the Year video at least 2 weeks early.
Naturally, I wanted Mojang to know, without the video's results going public.
I then asked Kappische to tell notch. he repeatedly refused. when I told notch, which took many, MANY @'s on twitter, he said it "wasn't that big a deal", and that I should "calm down".

fair enough, say that to crazed fans. but not to someone just asking for acknowledgement that they read it.

then it seemed Kappische had demanded my demotion on the wiki, as I kept asking him to tell Notch about the award.

Why did I bother trying to tell them? so they knew in advance what to do with the prize, and maybe release cake in time for christmas as a festive gesture, before the official announcements.

call it what you want. I see it as totally unfair myself. the only thing about me that I see as guilty, is wanting the community to be happy.

Yeah, this in particularly irritated me. For me Adventure would have to involve quests and specific objectives, and we've been given no such thing, nor anything that I think really qualifies the title of "Adventure".

Jees guys, you ask for a lot in a small time period. If that was the case and they did indeed start an adventure mode, it would not be done yet. That would be adding a fair bit to the game.

Unless you think you can do it faster, then by all means.

If they are making an adventure mode, you have survival to hold you over till then.

Dunno what else to tell you really, I have no idea on any real details. Simply explaining programming is not something that happens overnight. Figuratively that is.
