Wait what is this? A half Life mod with no visuals? Sounds cool but what do I have to give? Am I missing something?
I am trying this out!
Why do I suspect a screamer?
Don't know what to do at the river, WHAT am I supposed to do exactly? I can barely hear what the guy say.
perhaps your volume is too low? But from the river you should walk with the river sounds in your left ear.
So this is a game made by blind people to make everyone experience what it is to be blind?
Now thats original and very interesting, I'll be playing this!
I have a lot of respect for projects like this!
I'm not blind, It's just and experiment in game making.
are there any trailers?
Haha.
Youtube video shall be uploaded soon. Also a video review is on its way.
graphics are pretty bad....seriously.Pffft just kidding, this is great pretty good and unique experience.
haha. sounds awesome. i'll give this a look. do i really need some headphones though? if i do i'll have to find some.
NO WAY... I have to try this, even if it doesn't meet my incredibly high expectations :)
Excellent idea devs... really good show!
ok! I beat the first challenge.. I got so scared when the guy mentioned whipping out his shot gun so I ran off in some random direction than followed the bells back :D. The game really is something! I like it! how many challenges are there??
That was a lot of fun! Is it over after the jig?
Yes It is!
LOL LOL LOL!!!
Very well done and great hilarious characters
You should consider making this a freeware game instead of a half life mod. I think this game would be highly appreciated by blind people but i dont think they will be getting HL2 just for that. So I strongly advise you to port this to a open source freeware engine (it would be easier to commercialize it that way too).
Also if you're looking to improve the overall game experience perhaps you should try this - Onemansblog.com
This sounded awesome. Too bad it was so short. And closing your eyes really helps.
Terrific Mod! I really enjoyed it. I think the concept worked very well and could have easily be a longer game; if you desire to continue with your project, that is.
seems odd. so do u just stare at a black screen while listening to ur headphones?
you can close your eyes or wear a blind fold if you like. I don't suggest gouging out your eyes, as the effects are a bit more permanent.
ahahah :P
Fantastic idea, and some great writing too. :-) It's a bit trickier than normal on Vista, since Valve's headphone code doesn't work there, but dsp_enhance_stereo in the console helps.
(FYI devs: the download is far, far larger than it needs to be. Sounds can be compressed with 4-bit Microsoft ADPCM, which squashes them down to about a quarter of their original size!)
I never knew that. Seemed fine for me. I'll have to try that next time I play.
Can we get a screenshot please?
some one has posted video and a screen shot here Hardforum.com :P
This is probably the most original mod i have ever seen!
Wow, now that was a damn unique experience! :D I actually found a sleeping blindfold and put it on to enhance the experience.
Is there something that happens after the jig?
I have just have played the mod, and I really really liked it. It was a bit short, but that doesn't matter. The end was great to becouse it really felt like a reward for wath I did before.
So I relly enjoyed it and I hope you will keep on developing such a tipe of game.
greetings
henk
p.s. I hope my english is readeble... :)
Your english is fine, And I'm very glad you enjoyed the mod.
I NEED THIS MOD!
Hello All.
I am tom, and i am from Poland, but anyway, you can know it cause you can check my profile.
I am a blind user, and i am playing many games, wich are playable for me.
Playable is very interesting, because what is playable for the blind user? well, especially 2d games, without many jumping elements, and the rest platforming, so i can play many arcade beat em ups, and many one on one fighters.
Reason? yep, this is very easy, i can't see what is on the screen, so i can't play a 3d games, targeting and shooting, driving a car, or doing many other things.
I found this mod for HL2, and i am very interested in it, and thinking about tray this one.
But, here's the problems started. I haven't a copy of HL2, and don't want buy it for one mod, this is really stupid idea.
But, if i'll can get this on, the game mechanic, and interface is probably not accessible for screen readers, so i am unable to run this mod properly.
Now i am writing to dev of this really good thing: Can you help me with it? make a open source project, outside the actual HL2, and let tray for me, and other blind people?
Great to hear someone, who wants to experiencing in that direction, really, cause nobody thinking about people with dissabilities, especially blind disfunctions.
I am waiting for your repplies, and hope to hear this in action soon.
Cheers
Tom
