You'll still need to have the original games and some additional hardware to get them running, but they're worth investigating for yourself. Check them out here:
This kind of stuff is what we wouldn't mind seeing more of on the site. If any of you guys come across any console mods out there, get them up on Mod DB and share the love!
They're not mods - they're ports, but that's besides the point.
There's some good home brew out there - but it's not fair on developers to list their content. You can't distribute it without their permission, because there's a good chance they don't want it in other channels, or in some cases, legally can't have it in other channels - in which case you're putting them and ModDB in a bad position.
Encouraging people to upload other peoples material to ModDB is a bad move, and not something that we should be doing.
It all depends on what the license says really. If these are the open sourced copies which require the Original games to start then you might be alright since that'd require purchase.. if not then yes what you are doing is in actuality Illegal and goes against the license (i think).
I own a flashed DS Lite with a M3 Lite so i got to try out Quake 1 a few months back.
It runs great! No hickups or anything!
Now all i have to do is keep on struggling to play an FPS game on my DS... i think its pretty tricky with the touch screen.
Wish i could just hook up a mouse to the DS. :P
there would be no point as it is ment to be portable...
flashcarts are ok if your only using them for the good of man kind, there are other homebrews out there that are of a much higher quality then the quake one.
there is one kinda of like smash brothers but in pixles rather then 3d and i have proof Youtube.com.
any case it dose not make the idea of modding this little sucker (the ds i mean) any less fun, if you do it tho you left with a small majority of people who can play it.
Anyone fancy looking into porting some of the old Quake multiplayer mods like AirQuake and Quake Rally over to the DS, now that the core game architecture is in place (or is it not that easy)?

If that were true then they'd be breaching the GNU GPL in which they derive their sources from.
