This First Development post will be the first in a bi-weekly posting as I push forward in the mods development and begin to share my previously private work. As mentioned in the summary, the primary Bookmark (and earliest for this mod at this stage in planned development) is 653 B.C. My early work so far has had a specific and strong focus on Egyptian, Anatolian, Mesopotamian, Persian/Elamite, and Greek Cultures. Early (spanish) Iberian, Latin, Etruscan and Gaulic locations, peoples, and cultures have been implemented in early form.
I do want to apologize for the long silence in my updates to this site, I am currently training for a full-time job and really do enjoy working on the project but have been mostly on the road following Christmas and I'm finally set up for a few weeks in one location so I can advance with some of my mod work and share some of my development thus far. Also, I will post the second Development Post later this month and touch on gameplay design concepts and items I have been testing/planning as strong additions to the actual CK2 base gameplay such as; Improved personal interactions within your family and court, concept concerning trade routes or economical/provincial resources loosely influenced by Magnate Lords, flavour decisions and events for specific cultures as found in the ancient world.
My work on the bookmark so far has focused greatly on Psamtik Saite's rise to power in Egypt after the final expulsion of the Assyrians, and the dynamics of power between the Assyrian Empire at the time and the 26th Dynasty of Egypt (Saite Dyansty).
The Lydian Kingdom and it's Phrygian and Cilician neighbors are well developed with Anatolian-specific Greek cultural character graphics and details. The Urartian, Mannaean, Babylonian, and Aramaean Kingdoms under Assyrian Vassalage have been implemented and are awaiting more specific cultural tweaks and law/succession development, custom character graphics have been modified from the general Mesopotamian character graphics for most.
The somewhat Mythical Cimmerian and Scythian Lands north-east of Lydia and north of Urartu have been implemented along with custom character graphics, and I am further tweaking the tribal system for them.
The Philistine and other Canaanite city states and kingdoms such as Hamath, Edom, Moab, and Aram-Damascus have been implemented and I have also implemented the Phoenician city-states such as Tyre and Sidon etc as well as many of the Phoenician colonies and city-states across the Mediterranean such as Ibossum, Utica, Carthage, and Gadir.
The Ancient Kingdom of Kush (ruled by Shabataka after he lost control of Egypt to Psamtik) has been implemented along with custom Egyptian-influenced character graphics and faiths etc. The nearby Nubians, Somalis, Puntites, and Abyssinians being implemented although these additional peoples and cultures required additional development to reach the quality level of the Egyptians/Kushites.
That's all for this late-night dev post, I want to thank those who have been following my mod's development recently and also I am very open to input and advice on gameplay features and historical authenticity input on anything as much of my work requires alot of prerequisite research on a location and people before I start developing the assets, cultures, and localizations etc.
Noice
(To lazy to read, but I looks like a long informative text about what you are doing which is cool)
agree hahaha
This made my day, glad to see you had time to work on this mod. Keep up the work!
Thanks, I appreciate it mate!
Is this still happening?
Yes, I have a group of private playtesters on steam testing the latest build. Hopefully I will have a basic alpha for the first bookmark (653 BC) available for the public soon :)
This is an awesome idea, and i hope you pull it off!!
