EZ2 - Post-Release Debrief
(Artwork by Rhyan - @RhyanLister)
Holy smokes! You guys are really enjoying Entropy : Zero 2.
We're seeing a count of around 42 thousand first-time downloads total. We have also managed to make the big numbers on SteamDB with a peak of 3,751 concurrent players.
From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!
There are a few bits we want to bring you up to speed on.
Localization / subtitles / other languages
Please be patient with us during this time. We understand the eagerness of our non-English speakers to experience Entropy : Zero 2 in their native languages. We have had lots of requests for translation over the last few days. I actually think this is the most asked question I'm getting at the moment.
We need to formulate a process for localization and then we can come to you and work with you to make it happen. Right now we are taking a much needed breather. When we are ready to start this process we will post news of it here on Moddb. As I said, please be patient with us on this. EZ2 is gigantic and localization will be no easy task.
Bugs and Crashes
We are aware of some bugs and crashes. In particular, there appears to be a nasty crash bug in chapter 5. Another crash we have seen involves NPCs 'flickering' momentarily before the game crashes.
We've also seen a few cases of achievements not firing. We might need more data on those as it's unclear at the moment if players are using console commands that could constitute as cheats (which disables achievements). If you have failed to get an achievement please let us know.
Please be aware we're looking into these problems and will hopefully be able to address them with a patch soon.
Workshop
As you've probably seen already, the EZ2 workshop is open for business. We have a slight issue with the workshop UI at the moment. It seems as though the preview thumbnails are not showing. It's something we're looking at presently. Hopefully we can get those thumbnails fixed soon!
What's next?
We're taking a break right now and looking at all of the feedback. It still feels surreal!
Soon we want to look at getting some things fixed and focus on localization as I said above. We also want to host an AMA at some point so you guys can ask us anything like about the game. We're not sure how that's going to go down yet. We might stream it? We'll see.
At some point I would love to stream a playthrough of the game myself and talk about choices we made during development, hidden bits etc.
Developer commentary is on the horizon too. Blixibon has been making some improvements to the commentary system with Mapbase and it looks great! We're excited to get our hands into that and deliver developer commentary for Entropy : Zero 2.
People keep asking me "What's next for the Breadmen?" Honestly? I'm not sure yet. It's too early to say. Remains to be seen!
Thank you for playing :)
Thanks to you for making this great what it can be like a full DLC that i would gladly pay for it, every moment is worth it, thanks again and take a good break because you guys earned it.
I felt like I was playing a DLC made for half life like the good old opposing force.
it smashed my expectations and went above and beyond definitely deserves the spot of one of the best hl2 mods.
I had the same comparison in mind somewhere around the mid-point of the mod.
It really does feel like EZ2 is to HL2 what OpFor is to HL1.
The quality of this mod is stunning.
I dare to say, I felt playing a Half-Life Alyx for Source 1
Easily Mod of the Year!
Darn, I wanted to write a review for this so much, but couldn't stop playing for like 3 hours.
Way better than Hunt Down The Freeman indeed.
Amazing stuff. Cannot wait to see the AMA.

I'm not interested in this "sequel"-retcon-crossover-fanfiction about EZ, but I'm still glad you succeeded at least. It's still a shame we'll never see a true sequel to Entropy: Zero, but at least the original is still out there, so all is not lost.
Errr...Entropy Zero 2 was made by the guy who made the original, with an added team of developers. It's not fanfiction of EZ - it was written by the same person who wrote EZ. It's the actual sequel in the truest sense of the word.

Taking into account that this game should have been based mainly on Half-Life, as well as being a good sequel, I would say that what you say is not so. Sorry.
... So you are telling a person they can't have made something just because you don't like it.... wow narcissist much?
I don't know who you are exactly, but based on what you're saying, anyone who criticizes is automatically a narcissist, correct?
lmfaooo you really are delusional bro. EZ 2 is as close to an official HL2 Opposing Focre-level expansion as we will ever get.
You mean HL2: Opposing 'Force'? Or HL2: Opposing 'Focre'? Because, as far as I know, there isn't a mod called HL2: Opposing 'Focre'.
lmao don't feed the stupid troll
(buried)
Troll? Me? Simply because I never liked the direction this sequel was going to take, which I had made clear YEARS ago? I think you should learn that it's not okay to lie about someone.
I'll have to strongly disagree with your stance, but each to its own. Have you even played the game?
What it seen in several of the trailers about this mod, plus the walkthrough I saw recently about this same mod, clearly suggests that this "sequel" is not worth it. Sorry, dude.
SPOILER: Is it the relatable minimum-wage anti-social protagonist vibe the thing that bothers you?
Literally not trying to mock you, It's how I perceive the character and the mod's most of the demographic. Anti-heroism and all that.
Not really, it has to do with what established in the first EZ over EZ2; not to mention that neither of the two no longer belong to the same genre.
That's really too bad. What other sequel to a Metrocop suits a Combine follower than a promotion to an elite combine soldier, with his original memory intact? I don't wanna spoil anything, but that is the main thing of EZ2. Aiden's promotion.
And does that make the problems that this "sequel" has go away or what? Because I don't understand your point.
I don't know if anyone can understand your point. Still, each to its own.
And I made that clear in the comments I made earlier.
Definitely a palette cleanser after the turd that is HDTF.
HDTF released FOUR YEARS AGO, can we STOP
NO
So you've been chewing on the same turd for 4 years in a row? Maybe... stop?
I have been playing this for like an hour yesterday and I forgot to sleep XD.
Hmmmm, what's the significance of the picture on this article?
Finished it almost twice, had a lot of fun. Good job!
yep, loved this. The voice acting was brilliant once you got used to it and the bad guy wasnt so bad after all.
Beats the s**t out of my previous mod. Best gaming choice I've ever made.
