Some news about Steam distribution as well as a new character model. Check it out!

Posted by MadMechwarrior on Nov 18th, 2008

As Left 4 Dead is unleashed on the world today today (highly recommended), I have a bit of news. We sent our 3.2 files to Valve last week. It will now be tested by the Valve QA team. We are hoping to have it released by early December (sorry for the delay). The team is working on the next version in the mean time to add even more content to ES.

One of these new enhancements we hope to bring to 3.3 are extra player models to better differentiate the classes. Daniel Williams has been working on one of these and has pleasantly surprised all of us with his great NGM Hacker model.

We're looking forward to battling you in the next version as soon as it comes out. We'll be looking for a bunch of server admins to help us take all the traffic we are bound to get. The latest word from our testers has also confirmed this: the new game modes are awesome (especially demolition). Ask them for yourselves.

good model, great texture.. small critics: hands could be a bit bigger and forearm is lightly too thin.

I hate gunship fights =( Too bad
But I like Gun fights! But there's not enough of it...

How about a new map? Both Mother Ships have crashed, and infantry only?
Might be a great idea? Just to change the routine ya know!

Think about it.

There is a new gamemode in the upcoming Steam release version (3.2) that's called Capture, which is infantry only, here's the mode decription from the main ES site :
Much like TF2's CP mode, this is a linear assault mode where teams must fight over a small part of a larger map. The game progresses and the first team to fully capture all the points wins. This game mode is timed, and if the timer expires it may result in a draw or a win for the defending team. Capture more subsystems to gain time! A simple mode which is fun for infantry maps.

I remember playing this when it was probably in the alpha stages, I think it was a year and a half ago maybe. In my eyes the game was pretty buggy, and I have not played it since. But when Steam releases this, I will be sure to give it a try, because I'm sure they've improved a great deal since the last time I played it.
