Well, then. Good news, and horrible news.
The good news is that I got in contact with John, the modeler. He's able to maintain a steady communication, so that is no longer a problem. The bad news is that our programmer, BoX has apparently decided to leave the mod.
This is very, very bad. He was in the process of modifying our HUD, VGUI, NPCs and bullsquid/houndeye models, among other things. Basically a very large portion of what would make Office Complex fun (and even a bit unique) is either half-finished or broken. We're sans the source code, so fixing and finishing it all is a no go. Go figure.
The remaining team member and I had a chat, and we decided finding a new programmer and having them start anew would be less than ideal. So - at least for now - we're ceasing development on Office Complex.
For those wondering, BoX's leave isn't the sole reason for this. We'd like to focus on a new project that allows us more creative freedom than remaking a classic, for example. This is the end of neither of our developing days. I personally am on another team and applying to another, both of which would be a much better use of time than hoping to pull Office Complex from limbo.
Here's some final things:
- The suspected reason for BoX's leave will not be discussed.
- Development could resume again later on, but don't hold your breath. For example, I may on occasion open a map and tweak, but no promises.
- The custom models will likely not be released, but we'll see.
- I am hungry.
- The custom textures may be released.
- I probably won't be releasing VMFs.
- No, you cannot have any source code. Because we don't have it.
- We are very, very sorry to you watchers. If it wasn't for you, we wouldn't have made it as far as we have.
If you have anything you want answered or just wanna say, feel free to say it.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Edit: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Oh that's sucks. The recent screenshot really was a glimmer of hope.
Unfortunately, I'd say glimmer of optimism is more accurate. We really do wanna get this out there, so like I said, we may come back to it.
I hope you do, good luck with the other project!
Thats a shame :(
Well that sucks.
On the other hand, aaaand this may sound dickish...
you can work more on the Hazard Course :P.
Yep! :D
I am hungry
idc if ur hungry :(
well in any case for your future projects feel free to contact my beta test team: Moddb.com
Well, that's rude. :c
no it's just that another author and i had this talk where we were like persecuting those with lives and all :P like why do you need sleep, why u have to go to the bank, these things jsut get in the way! just answer my email now, so i can finish this map today etc :D
[usually those without real lives are looked down upon, but we were joking about and doing the opposite]
Ah, I see.
Anyway good luck with your non-bitcoin BTC. :3
thanks, i guess, but if by non-bitcoin you mean free of charge and you assume it will lack quality, isn't that weird coming from a person who themselves offer free stuff?
No, it was a joke (albeit a bad one). BTC is also the currency code of "bitcoin," which is a form of digital currency.
Therefore Beta Testers Collective is the non-bitcoin BTC.
Yeah, I'm a terrible comedian.
LOL ok :D
thanks, i didn't know of this connection, actually.. i sure hope we don't have to change the name or initials :S
Luckily for you I don't think anyone else will notice. And if they do they won't care.
What do you mean with "FUN" we suported this DON*T LET IT DIE!
And if thats the opinion please release a playable DEMO.
I know you said yu might come back to this but not sure and if you never come back we will be sad ;_;
With the "NOOO"s.
The current state of the game isn't worth releasing in any form, really.
Can you tell more detailed?
How is it not playable?
It's not unplayable, it's just not in a state I'd be willing to release in.
