New Eidolons

A lot of work has gone into designing and implementing the Eidolons for the Forest area this past week. You can find some of them below:

It’s important that every area has a diverse and unique selection of Eidolons that match the aesthetic of their environment. Furthermore, each Eidolon should have its own niche in combat, so a lot of care has gone into implementing unique features and attributes for each Eidolon in order to establish their unique identity.

Character Customization

The character customization system is finally in a functional state. You can customise your character’s sprite at any point by visiting any “Summoner’s Assistant” in the game.

At the start of the game you’ll only have a few different options to pick from but you can unlock more outfits or hairstyles by progressing through the main story, completing side quests or even just by exploring.

Consumables

The general functionality of Items has been extended to allow for more possibilities. The function of healing consumables has been reworked, now they restore a flat amount of Health to an Eidolon rather than a percentage of its health. Healing items have also received new art as seen in the screenshot below.

This item rework also opens up design space for various consumable items, such as items that let you avoid encounters or raise your out of combat speed temporarily. Another possibility is consumables that grant a benefit during combat - such as raising your Eidolons stats temporarily or starting the fight with certain positive status effects.

Teleport Terminals

Another mechanic that has been worked on recently is the teleport terminals. After a certain point in the story, the player is able to interact with various teleport terminals around the world in order to add them to their teleport network. Once a terminal has been activated you can teleport to it from any other teleport terminal you’ve discovered, allowing for a system of fast travel.

Thank you for taking the time to read this far, there is a lot more content in development so expect more frequent updates in the near future. At present, I’m primarily focused on reworking the main story sequences however there are a bunch of planned quality of life changes that are also in development.

If you're interested in the game or wish to support this project please consider wishlisting the game on Steam.

Until next time.
