I didn't have much fun until someone pointed out to me that you turn faster when turbo is enabled. Then, it was glorious! :-)

(Presumably the increase in turn speed was added to make steering harder with turbo...the irony.)

Good job guys, just need to work on improving the vehicle code over the interweb and you've got a great product on your hands. Have you considered some kind of mine? Not something that you would lay like a land mine, more something to cover your retreat as you run for your life.

Runs as slow as Crysis because of the huge maps, but It's worth playing, just for vehicles that don't drive like the HL2 Buggy.

I believe that error occurs when the mod is being mounted on the wrong game. Try installing Source SDK Base if it isn't already. Or, try to reinstall Half - Life 2.

I've been playing this game for several hours now. It's brilliant; I hope the addition of more cars and weapons doesn't mess it up, because it's pretty much perfect the way it is. It's like Unreal Tournament for cars.

I've also found some interesting physics exploits that let you do some interesting things. None of them exceedingly difficult to implement, nor overpowering in their effect. I'll be posting about that in the appropriate places later.

I have to say that after playing the demo, this mod is very polished and extremely fun. Other mod developers should learn from this instead of making the same ugly counter-strike & zombie panic clones over & over again.

The only gripe I have is that the steering is extremely sluggish. Fix this and you guys will be set.

CitizenLand Mar 8 2008, 2:02pm says:

I was pleasantly surprised at how polished and fun this was. Great work guys.

I think the secret here is the mod authors kept the scope of the game manageable rather than attempt to match a full sized retail product. They also kept the learning curve low and intuitive. The art style reminds me somewhat of Bandits: Phoenix Rising (one og GRIN interactive's early and underappreciated post-apocalyptic car combat game).

I would like to see mouse steering implemented with a dedicated mouselook button that would switch one to weapon aiming when used.

Otherwise, just a fantastic effort all around, kudos!

I just gave this a try and I gotta say it's awesome guys!! And a real refreshing and fun break away from the Norm too!! Lovin' It!!

Although I agree with some of the points above about the steering... I found that the steering wasn't immediately responsive to key presses and if I held A or D down for a split second too long I spun some wacky 270's into walls etc! lol... But still, besides that minor glitch... An Excellent mod guys! Keep it up!! :)

This mod gets boring quick, and the the controls totally sux. I know they are going for the Twisted Metal like gameplay, but it's not even close. I'm sure it'll get hyped and then nobody will be playing it 2 weeks later. I've seen a lot of original games come out and then nobody really cares to play them. Funny right?

You know what... I'm fed up of people like this guy I'm replying to. It's clearly someone with a grudge of some kind. He's just registered an account so that he can make a negative comment here with no repercussions. Why do people have to behave in such a pathetic manner?

sathanas Mar 8 2008, 9:27pm replied:

He barely even said anything bad? He said "sux" once, but the thing about the controls is kinda true.

I would go for radar ruining gameplay more than sucky controls though.

First release though. Can only get better.

NightSage Mar 9 2008, 12:15am replied:

yeah its true no one is going to be playing the mod after two weeks. Also the controls for the vehicles are sucky to be honest.

VanillaDM Mar 10 2008, 3:22pm replied:

I disagree entirely. How are the controls bad? How else would you have set them up. To me the controls are STRIKINGLY easy to manage. Everything is isolated to one end of the keyboard, easy to reach, and they make sense!

+1 vote     reply to comment
dethtoll Mar 11 2008, 2:53pm replied:

The controls aren't bad at all, IMO, but then again I love the vehicle sequences in HL2 and they're largely the same. That said, the mod just doesn't have enough to maintain my interest, and don't get me started on the fact that there's no servers with <100 ping near me.
