Designation: STFT 3 The Devil's Tongue was used by Nod during the Second Tiberium War to replace the old Flame Tanks' and act as a flexible building destroyer and a vary effective infantry fighter. In addition to being faster and tougher than its precedessor it also had grinder drills, which allowed it to dig in undergound and dig out in any part of the battlefield undetected, becoming one of GDI's worst fears as they suffered heavy losses of outposts from these tanks. After the war some factions abandoned it, while some others continued its use and even tried to upgrade it. As time progressed, the Devil's Tongue discovered a new threat. It was not some GDI armor piece or new missile launcher, but it was a new Flame Tank prototype used by the Black Hand under Marcion.
Affiliation: Nod
Role: Anti- structure, Anti- infantry
Armament: Flamethrowers
Type: Medium Tank
Speed: Medium
Background
The Black Hand loyal to Slavik, always being in contrast with Marcion, rejected the Flame Tank and continued the use of the Devil's Tongue, which was, unfortunately, much more primitive than the new Flame Tank. For that reason, they acquired the blueprints for the new Flame Tank, and tried to upgrade the Devil's Tongue with the latest liquid napalm launch system. They suceeded, and upgraded the Devil's Tongue armor anda dded a much more powerful grinder drill. With that being, the Flame Tank stood no chance to keep being used. When Kane took command, he let both flame tank models in the basic build list, but the Devil's Tongue was the most used. In addition to its amazing burning skills, the Devil's Tongue could be upgraded with drills, allowing it to dig in and out in different locations. The drill could also suck mines and blow them inside the grinder without taking any damage. With that being, a new generation of terror machines would haunt GDI's soldiers' nightmares once again.
"The Brotherhood has used various flame tanks throughout its history. From the Napalm Tanks of the underground operations of 1960 to the Subterannean Flame Tanks of the Second Tiberium War's Tiberium wastelands, the Brotherhood always had a flame tank worthy enough to stand up to its place. But now Marcion gives to us, the Brotherhood, his abomination. That tank is just NOT worthy enough to be our icon, NOT worthy enough to strike fear into GDI's hearts, NOT worthy enough to take a place in Kanne's Technology of Peace! Our only salvation is the Devil's Tongue. Its mere name shows its true potential! Its flames are igneous tongues from Hell, its grinders our only way to domination! Brothers and sisters, we must not accept Marcion's heressy and leave our evolution behind, as Marcion's machine takes us ten years in the past, while the Brotherhood stands for evolution!"
--Brother Timothey's Anti- Marcion Speech, 2036--
Dig, Rise, Burn and Repeat
Although the Devil's Tongue is the most powerful anti- infantry platform, its armo is paper thin and thus the tank itself is very vulnerable. So, instead of trying to head-on an enemy, researching the Drilling Mechanism upgrade would be a sure investment to any player who wants to wreack havoc to his opponent's base. Digging in and rising behind the enemy's defenses would cause to instant victory, as its flamethrowers are exceptionally good against builings.
I guess it's okay you make these unit profiles, it gives more meaning to TE storyline...
"The Devil's Tongue was used by Nod during the Second Tiberium War to replace the old Flame Tanks"
lol TW went backwards
very good unit profile enjoyed to read through.
Really nice profile! Be far the DevilĀ“s Tongue is one of my favorite units. I feel evil when I hear the enemy soldiers screaming >=D
Damn... no headshots today =/
I prefer the Devil's Tongue because it goes underground, unlike the other Flame Tanks
I just wish the other units didn't rush in the DT firing arch when it is flaming an enemy, specially the scarab APC.
The ugly flametank in EA's C&C3 never made any sense at all. Im very glad this one is back for TE. The only issue is how to balance it, since it digs from one location to another in an instant.
Great storyline! The devil's Tongue has always been my fav flame tank in every C&C game!
