X32I Redemption is a space simulator heavily inspired by Freespace 2 creators Volition, inc. This will be taking the best of the Freepsace 2 and the best of the Cryengine 2 while adding our own stuff in to make it the ultimate space sim.
that was totally awesome!!i felt like it was a movie!
nice camera work
wow
The X321 bit is good, the Horizon bit is good (by good i mean, it gets you interested, the art+music/sound all pull the viewer in).
The rest, has great camera work, but the music destroys the feeling when the singing goes very high, it seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time - although the basic tune/style works great.
The voice acting seems slightly empty, only one voice talks makes all the words seem somewhat random, and the speech seems un-professional (in a military term). I've got to say, the accent does kind of remove emotion and all from that part of the video also - in the same way the singing does.
Everything (voice, footage, music) all just needs to be on the same page - Look at Mass Effect, Fallout, Farscape, for some examples.
X321 all looks great and I'll definitely try it out, I think you just need to work on getting emotions high a little more, make the players love the game so much, they sit and watch the credits, thinking, wow.
I get what you are saying but the reason it seems out of place is because no one except the team knows, what's gone on.
I agree it probably could of done with a extra voice to talk to the other voice actor.
However this mod is very early in production, 4 months, so it's gunna take a lot of work to get the quality high on all fronts.
The reason her voice doesn't seem "military" is because well a large portion of her friends got wiped out, and she was relaying what she was seeing back to command. (who was far away from the area for a good reason).
Stuff like that will improve as time goes on, afterall it's a teaser, and a early teaser at that.
But to summarise you liked the logos but not so much the actual game :P.
That's a harsh way to put it ;)
I meant the mood and feeling of the logos (music included) was much better than the music that accompanied the actual game. Even though it was a cut down version of the main music, it was cut down to include the most atmospheric parts.
Like you said, this is all early on, and im sure with some more work, you'll eventually have people crying during the main game ;)
The music wasn't cut down from anything. Whilst this scene is from the opening of the game, this is a trailer, and not the actual final cinematic from the opening sequence. Thus the music was written purposely for the trailer. It is entirely possible that the introduction cinematic could (but might not) have completely different music (and it is also possible that the introduction cinematic itself will change). However, for this trailer, I felt it was the best way of approaching it.
Beautiful, simply beautiful. Love the music, voice acting, visuals, everything.
Haven't seen a good space-shooter for ages, but this one looks very much like it'll deliver.
Thanks for the comment,
As always a project of this size takes some serious devotion from the team to get working which is proving a large challenge for all involved, and me my self too as I'm used to doing solo work more than leading a team.
Genius!
This I will be keeping an eye on. Great musical score too.
Is there actually some way of obtaining these music tracks as a separate download? I still like to watch this trailer simply because I love the musical style and atmosphere of it that much.
Nope, the music is produced by our composer.
If we get the mod "to where we want it to be" it may come out as a purchasble soundtrack, but nothing is final.
Plus ultimately it's up to the composer.
Fraid you're going to have to keep looking at the video for now. :P
I know you have your own composer. I just thought about the possibility of your team releasing some of these tracks as a separate download... only if your composer is fine with that, of course.
Alrighty then, let's watch it again... ;)
