X32I Redemption is a space simulator heavily inspired by Freespace 2 creators Volition, inc. This will be taking the best of the Freepsace 2 and the best of the Cryengine 2 while adding our own stuff in to make it the ultimate space sim.

The current state of the Thunderbird, as you can see it's quality is improving ten fold by each release.

The rest of the shots as well as new shots will be coming later in the month.

If you think the Thunderbird looks better, wait till you see the Wasp created by Ben.

It's actually your ship you fly, the ship is modular and can have parts replaced with other parts to upgrade it during the course of the game.

looks a bit like an oldtimer ^^
nice work, is this the final model (without textures) ?
if its not, what is still in progress?

It's the near final version, it's had some minor optimisations since then, but yeah it's 99% final. All that remains is texturing.

Though because the ship can be upgraded there's likely going to be about 50 variations of the model if not more.

This looks wicked. It has a kind of loose x-wing/battlestar gallactica mash up feel about it.

Was more than just smoothing groups, parts of the ship had to be entirely remodelled lol. :P

All of those hard angles give it a real mean look. I like it!

Just awesome, out of curiousity, what's the poly count? Also, if we upgrade the ship, does the model change at all? I always thought that made for ALOT more epic upgrading, but it's not very common.

50k polygons give or take but triangle count is what the crysis engine goes from. And yes the upgrades will be a visual difference as there will be models for each part.
