X32I Redemption is a space simulator heavily inspired by Freespace 2 creators Volition, inc. This will be taking the best of the Freepsace 2 and the best of the Cryengine 2 while adding our own stuff in to make it the ultimate space sim.

Nice concept for a cockpit. I very much like the claustrophobic atmosphere giving you a sense of isolation and loneliness in space. However, I fear many players may complain about not being able to see what's going on out there ;)

The view is being tweaked but for the most part it's more than enough, that is the shell it self, the interior is being made now, so the camera position is going to change slighty.

It's better shown in a video, but it's too early to release footage of the cockpit in video form yet, especially as it's not finished.

Just as a note, it's the only view, no 3rd person.

Wouldn't want to play in 3rd person anyway. A virtual cockpit was actually one of the very few things I really missed in Freespace... so I'm glad you're not going to leave them out, too.

i dont think it would be a problem if the camera position inside the cocpit would be moved a little bit backwards if you place some screens and stuff.
the interior will increase the grade of claustrophoby (did i wrote the word right?).

by the way, is it possible to use cameras in this engine?

A couple of HUD design tips should be taken from Need for Speed Shift. That game did a real good job on making the in-car camera useful and not too claustrophobic, like real-life.
