Blade of Agony is a story-driven FPS. The project is inspired by WWII shooters from the 90's and early 2000's, like Wolfenstein 3D, Medal of Honor, and Call of Duty, but with faster-paced gameplay in the spirit of Doom! The game can be played standalone using the GZDoom engine as a base. "This is basically one of the best DOOM mods I've come across." - John Romero

Post news Report RSS What a first night!

Last night we sat together in a video meeting, equipped with a couple of bottles of beer, a bottle of wine and some cigarettes, and talked about the last 6 years. 6 years of building wonderful friendships, of working hard side by side on a vision that is now available to a wide audience. And: we couldn't have imagined the response any better.

What a crazy night that was, and an even crazier first day. It's been barely 24 hours since the release of Blade of Agony and it couldn't have been more exciting for us developers.

John Romero tweets about Blade of AgonyJust a few hours after the release, the first Twitch livestreams were running, a few moments later we cracked the 2.500 downloads (!) mark on ModDB and reached number 2, and this morning no one less than John Romero himself sent out a tweet about our work.

The feedback so far is insane, and we are very happy about the kind words and messages that have reached us in the last 24 hours. Thank you to everyone who has downloaded and played Blade of Agony so far, and thank you also to all those who have donated a few dollars

We, in turn, will be enjoying the spectacle in the upcoming days, collecting bug reports and continuing to work on the project, as we have a few more surprises in store for you, so: Stay psyched!

Such a cheerful post. Thanks for sharing that joy with us.

The level of polish in this game is just surreal, these accolades are well deserved.

It's absolutely amazing. I will replay it many times for sure.
It's prolly very hard/impossible for many legal and organizational reasons but it would be awesome to see it published on Steam. Both as a free mod and even better- standalone products. There's a lot of 'retro' shooters out there but this W:BoA tops most of them without even breaking a sweat.
Great job, Team!

Congratulations guys, I spent last knight playing through the first episode. This game is really amazing and a lot of fun. The atmosphere, the gunplay, the levels are nicely polished ! The perfect mix between MoH and RTCW

It's been worth the wait so far. Sadly, my good computer's dead. My backup machine plays it OK, but I'm definitely going to replay it once I have a new machine, and it won't be the last time.

Congratulations, lads

Hi wolfprince1 and sorry for your pc, meanwhile you may consider to improve performance on your actual pc if you want, just by disabling Post Processing shaders under Options-Perf.Options-PP Options and then decrease distance for rendering actors on screen under Perf.Options-Rendering Settings and decrease all four last options to 2048.

I would argue this WAD gives even Brutal Doom a run for its money.
You guys did an absolutely phenomenal job here, and I applaud your work.

Thanks kindly. We actually do not want to compete with Brutal Doom, it's a mod of its own.

I was talking about QUALITY-WISE.
You guys are absolutely right up there with them, in regards to how much genuine effort was put into this mod.
Of course, this mod and Brutal Doom are like Apples & Oranges, gameplay-wise, but the level of love and effort put into this project is nothing short of incredible.

I am 54yrs old and have followed the Wolfenstein Franchise since the Apple II days. Without a doubt this entry has a place all it's own! Graphics/Gameplay/Level Design/Soundtrack...there is seriously NOTHING to complain about in this title! Excellent Game/Effort folks! I just sent in my $20 donation...VERY short $ considering the hours you can spend playing this!
JOB WELL DONE!

We appreciate your kind words very much! It is especially pleasing to hear an approval from a person who had witnessed the beginning not only of the specific FPS genre, but also of the video game development as a whole.
I hope the core team finds a good use of your money, thank you for that :-)
Have a nice time playing Blade of Agony!

I will wait then a bit more with starting the game to enjoy the full glory of your mod. I waited so long, I can wait a bit more.

One question, I noticed blackboard with mission statistics on screens. Is it possible to replay missions from HQ to find missed secrets, or do we have to restart game/reload level do it?

Edit:
One more thing. You are awesome. Thank you for your hard work.

Thank you!
On your question: Doom Eternal-style level replaying is not implemented, the levels could be visited only one time.

I love the mod so far. but i cant seem to find an option to turn of blur. i find it very annoying to play it with blur. gives me headaches to be honest. where is the option to turn it off? i can find the menu blur settings but not the in game blur settings.
